General SummaryThis position will focus on maintaining and securing business with distribution partners and dairy/beef producers selling and supporting Chr. Hansen, Inc. probiotics and forage inoculants. Products are proprietary of Chr. Hansen, developed, manufactured and research proven for use in dairy and beef production.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities (* = Essential Functions)* Responsible for maintaining existing business with key accounts.* Responsible for developing, servicing, and providing value-add services with dairy/beef producers.* Implements the US AH&N Business Unit strategies as it relates to Chr. Hansen’s dairy portfolio.* Maintains relationships with key end users and influencers, keeping them informed of price trends, new products and applications.Investigates customer complaints and solves routine industry problems on site. This includes, but is not limited to, new product applications, marketing efforts, new facilities, price trends, and key industry personnel.Meets or exceeds sales budget targets on a year-to-year basis.Develops and employs business plan with technical service support for the defined territory.Provides timely sales forecasts, reports and information as required.Works well in a team environment.Engages in training and skills development.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesPossess good time management, negotiation and follow-up skills.Ability to develop, plan, and implement territory plan.Must have technical skills to know the right questions to ask of customers.Must be a self-starter with drive and initiative and work with little supervision.Must have a passion for the animal agricultural industry.Provides excellent level of customer service to both internal and external customers.Possess a working knowledge in Microsoft Office programs.Ability to travel up to 40% of working time as needed in the defined geographic territory.These characteristics are normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, food technology or chemistry preferred, and a minimum of five to seven years of sales experience in the feed industry and/or feed additive industry with a primary focus on dairy/beef.
Working ConditionsWorking environment is remote in a home office setting about 20% of time and vehicle travel about 80% of time (this could vary depending on territory) working with dairy operations and business partners. Navigate farm and feeding operations in a safe manner. This position requires a valid driver’s license, good driving record. The employee must be able to meet the travel requirements of the job.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, work around livestock, farm equipment, keyboard and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
