JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary
The Division AVP of Infection Prevention provides direction for and management of Infection Prevention coordinators, managers, and the Infection Prevention and Control Department. The Division AVP is responsible for the healthcare entities within the region.
Job Responsibilities
Establishes the mission, vision, planning, direction, assessment, and leadership for effective infection prevention and control programs for hospitals and outpatient services.
Serves as infection control officer as delegated by Division Chief Medical Officer or Epidemiologist.
Provides strategic and operational direction for the framework of an integrated approach to the Infection Prevention and Control program.
Directs and coordinates division-wide infection prevention and control program through various activities involving medical staff and personnel.
Provides administrative direction for all epidemic investigations related to healthcare-associated or community-acquired infections.
Coordinates, develops, and provides education regarding disease transmission and practices for infection prevention and control.
Provides leadership and consultation to medical staff and leadership.
Coordinates reporting of infection control information to appropriate committees.
Directs performance improvement process and reporting for infection prevention and control.
Coordinates medical and hospital research projects regarding infection prevention and control issues.
Responsible for human resources management within areas of responsibility.
Promotes professional development of self and staff.
Provides direction for fiscal management for department operations.
Provides administrative direction in emergency preparedness related to infection prevention and control.
Maintains compliance with rules and regulations from Federal, State, and accrediting agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Current Certification in Infection Control (CIC) REQUIRED
Bachelor's Degree required
Master’s degree in a healthcare clinical or healthcare administration-related field highly preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years current experience in short-term acute care setting
Minimum of 3 current years experience in infection prevention and control
Minimum 2 years of management experience
MUST have current experience managing multiple facilities
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Reports to the Division VP of Quality and Patient Safety.
