Web Application Developer

to consult on a program initiative to establish a modernized public health (PH) data ecosystem, including efforts to modernize infrastructure and system needs to help federal, state, tribal, local, and territorial (STLT) organizations. Global public health organizations and institutions make decisions about necessary improvements that will allow data to flow more seamlessly.Responsibilities:

Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs.Design software or customize software for client use to optimize operational efficiency.Analyze and design databases within an application area, working individually or coordinating database development as part of a team.Support testing, troubleshooting, and updating the Topo JSON mapping service implemented in the web app.Support user interface updates to the web app to support new analytic capabilities.Research and develop potential prototypes for replacing the current chart engine (an open-source Java library) implemented in the web app.Research and develop potential prototypes for new analytic measures and visualizations for the online databases.Update the Apache Tomcat and Java libraries for the web app, subsequent testing, and release.Research and develop potential prototypes for modernization activities associated with the Cloud Data Lake migration and Enterprise Data Analytics and Visualization (EDAV) platform on Azure cloud (part of the Modernization Initiative).Produce a JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) wrapper for the existing XML-based Automated Programming interface for online databases.Develop an XSL script to produce information on the valid elements, flags, and values.Develop recommendations, prototypes, and implementation plans for updating or replacing a web app's current "chart" capabilities.Research and develop potential prototypes for improving or replacing the topo JSON mapping service.Update the web app's Apache Tomcat and Java libraries, perform subsequent testing, and develop release plans.Test and develop plans for updating the web app's Apache Tomcat and Java libraries.Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.Entry-level to Senior-level experience developing and supporting web applications implemented in Java.Experience administering IIS web server and Apache Tomcat servlet engine.Experience developing and supporting APIs that return XML and JSON.Experience utilizing SQL Server ETL processes.Experience creating and maintaining SQL Server databases, tables, and stored procedures.Experience using Tortoise, CVS, or other source code repositories.Ability to support public health professionals, statisticians, and data scientists.Security, Salary, and Benefits:
