Lead Engineer
with Westinghouse, Fauske and Associates.
This position is hybrid in nature requiring 2 days/week on-site at the Westinghouse facility in Burr Ridge, IL about 45-minutes south west of Chicago. We are able to entertain all candidates authorized to work without sponsorship now and in the future as we are unable to sponsor Visa's for this opportunity.
Your Day-to-Day:
The lead engineer role will be responsible for ensuring we maintain technical superiority in the LWR and advanced reactor severe accident space using tools such as MAAP, FATE, and other custom generated modeling solutions. This role will be the technical lead for continuing support of the MAAP code with EPRI and existing customers. This role will lead and provide guidance to other experienced and less experienced engineers, provide direct engineering interface with other WEC organizations, and clients. This lead engineer will ensure that similar and consistent work products/effort are leveraged across the organization, including key interface with synergizing functional groups like Risk Analysis and eVinci Safety Analysis.
Lead analysis and coding efforts in the fields of nuclear severe accident (MAAP, MELCOR, etc.), thermal hydraulic and advanced nuclear reactor safety designs as a subject matter expert.
Mentor individuals on various analysis across the organization in the fields of nuclear severe accident, thermal hydraulics, and other reactor safety topics.
Will be the technical point of contact with customers and internal stakeholders on multiple ongoing projects and potential business opportunities.
Work with management team to ensure work scopes are planned and staffed appropriately to meet project and customer requirements.
Support management team in identifying industry trends and supporting industry meetings and conferences.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of tasks assigned to less experienced individuals.
Who You Are:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering (Chemical, Nuclear, Mechanical)
15+ years in nuclear safety and severe accident analysis
Skills: expert in coding in C++, Fortran, Visual Basic, MathCAD, and/or Python; C#, GIT source code control
Competencies: advanced mathematical and modeling skills, technical writing, thermodynamics, transport phenomena (momentum, heat, and mass), kinetics, multi-phase flow modeling
Nice-to-Have:
Masters Degree
Professional Engineering License
