This position is situated within the Section of General Internal Medicine within the Department of Medicine at University of Chicago. Faculty within General Internal are recognized as national leaders in the areas of medical ethics, health economics and policy, health services and outcomes research.Job Summary

The Research Data Manager and Analyst will work closely with the physician investigator and her staff to carry out grant and program funded projects focused on improving the value and quality of care for patients with chronic diseases across care settings and among diverse populations. The individual will be responsible for all quantitative and qualitative data management and analysis for several projects related to chronic disease intervention development, implementation, and dissemination.Responsibilities

Support research projects and perform complex research related duties and tasks with a focus on quantitative and qualitative data.Manage day-to-day activities and data aspects of projects.Perform literature reviews as well as summarize and apply findings.Develop data collection instruments (questionnaires, interview/focus group guides, logs, etc.).Help support data collection, including face-to-face and electronically, with variety of methods including surveys, interviews, focus groups and others as appropriate.Maintain accurate and complete records.Develop databases and data management procedures.Conduct quality assurance on data collected.Track progress and produce reports on data collection progress.Organize and clean data.Work with investigators to identify appropriate statistical methods to address research hypotheses and conducting statistical analyses accordingly.Create analytic datasets by merging, cleaning, and coding data from multiple sources, including surveys, electronic health records, research assessments, and clinical datasets.Provide assistance with qualitative data management, coding, and analysis.Obtain qualitative data through interviews, focus groups, or other qualitative methods.Analyze quantitative data in concert with statistician and investigators.Analyze qualitative data, including interviews, focus groups, and open-ended survey responses, using qualitative software.Document source code and data management and analysis procedures.Prepare tables and figures for manuscripts, abstracts, and other scientific publications.Contribute to the writing of statistical methods and results sections for manuscripts and other publications, with opportunities for authorship available.Present results of statistical analyses to researchers, colleagues, and funders, including formal presentations at conferences.Participate in regular meetings with research investigators and staff and data analysts to discuss proposed analyses, share code and analytic approaches, and discuss data and/or methodological challenges as they arise.Provide assistance with power calculations and proposed analytic strategies for new grant proposals.Depending on expertise and experience, the candidate may provide critical methodological evaluation of newly proposed research designs and suggest design improvements and statistical analysis plans.Protect data confidentiality by ensuring security of research data and personal health information and compliance with federal regulations.Maintain secure shared files for off-site and on-site management of project documents and data.Help prepare and review study-related documentation, such as adverse event reports or progress reports.Analyzes moderately complex data sets for the purpose of extracting and purposefully using applicable information.Provides professional support to staff or faculty members in defining the project and applying principles of data science in manipulation, statistical applications, programming, analysis and modeling.Performs other related work as needed.Minimum Qualifications

Education: Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.Work Experience: Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.Preferred Qualifications

Education: Advanced degree in a related field.Experience: Experience using database software (such as REDCap), experience with quantitative data analysis software (SAS, STATA, R), experience with qualitative data analysis software (Dedoose, NViVo, ATLAS.ti).Preferred Competencies
