The

Senior Accountant

is primarily responsible for the reporting and accounting functions for

South Shore Health

corporate entities, including preparing and uploading journal entries, account reconciliation, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have substantial exposure to monthly closing processes, forecasting, and budgeting. They will be organized and approach each issue with an analytical mindset.Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's in Accounting or other related finance field3+ years of professional accounting experienceJob Responsibilities:Ensures accurate and timely preparation of the monthly financial packages.Ensures that an up-to-date procedure manual is developed and maintained. Develops policies and procedures for functional areas that have not been documented, and updates policies and procedures as may be dictated by organizational and accounting changes.Preparation for year-end audits.All work is self-reviewed for reasonableness and with a complete understanding before being presented as complete to the Accounting Manager.Evaluates procedures for the recording of financial transactions on a current basis to determine efficiency, methods of reducing time, and cost of the accounting operation.Ensures that the monthly accounting cycle is completed accurately and within established deadlines.Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of financial accounting and reporting systems.Understands the interface of various subsystems (A/R, A/P, F/A, M/M, P/R).Assists in new system, process, and procedure implementation, recommending streamline techniques and documentation enhancements to current policies and procedures.Maintains record retention and filing systems per organizational policies and procedures.Plans and coordinates special activities as may be required in the performance of functions or as may be dictated by procedures required for internal control purposes.Provides direction and support to assist staff in the resolution of issues.Ensures compliance with all human resource and organizational policies and procedures to assure quality services and promote positive relations.Effectively communicates and interacts with other staff.Acts as a mentor to the Accounting intern.Assists accounting team in identifying tasks that the intern can work on that will help them develop.Promotes effective working relations and contributes effectively as part of a department/unit team in ensuring that the departments and organization’s strategic goals and objectives are met.Effectively attains agreed to goals and objectives within specified time frames, as part of the organization’s overall mission. (List specific goals for current year.)Embraces technological solutions to work processes and practices.Fosters a “Culture of Safety” through personal ownership and commitment to a safe environment.Skills:Ability to detect and avoid errors in preparing and reviewing financial reports.Must be able to carry out defined policies and procedures.Must have the ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of management and staff.Due to the confidential nature of information, must be of sound character and professional in demeanor.Work Schedule:

8:30 AM - 5 PM; Hybrid, 4 days in the office, more days from home can be granted based on performance.
