Reporting directly to the Apogee Enterprise CFO and dotted line to the Glass business unit President, the incumbent will act as a business partner for the business president and management team, providing key decision support on a broad range of commercial and strategic issues, particularly as the business seeks to reposition the business products and services to drive profitable growth.This Finance business leader will plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the organization's Finance activities including (1) business unit financial management and forecasting; (2) functional excellence; (3) Critical business unit decisions support and strategic business partner, annual operating plan (AOP) and related project planning and management.The successful incumbent will help the business unit maximize long term sales, grow at or above market rates, expand business unit EBIT margin rate, maximize efficiency and effectiveness of human and financial capital deployment, provide a structure enabling faster integration, ensure accuracy and integrity of financial information, ensure operation of key financial and operational controls, and establish credibility throughout the enterprise and with the Board as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.Reporting Relationship

This position will report to the CFO of Apogee Enterprises while serving as a strategic partner to the Glass Business President, by anticipating business issues, providing insights, and driving good decision making through sound financial management. This role will be part of the Glass Leadership team, Glass Business Segment leadership team, and Finance Leadership team.Responsibilities

Business Unit Financial Management and Forecasting

Encompassing financial management and control, budgeting, forecasting, corporate development, manufacturing, and commercial support.Ensure business unit forecasts are deliverable, and once committed ensure they are delivered in support of the enterprise delivering on its external commitments.Provide consolidated reports for the business unit as appropriate.Understand key contracts and their KPIs and provide analysis and explanations for any variances and unforeseen trading patterns.Finance Functional Excellence

Work with the Apogee and Segment Finance teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the financial information, aligned and effective delivery of Finance support, reporting, services to business units and functions, and successful operation of internal controls.Participate as a valued member of the Apogee Finance team providing insights and reports on the business as needed.Ensure that all business unit policies and procedures are implemented properly and ensure best practices are followed across all Finance teams.Lead execution of internal controls for the segment. Ensure that the business unit maintains compliance with applicable U.S. and Canada state and federal regulations, GAAP, corporate financial policies, and SOX requirements.Evaluate the finance structure at the business unit to identify areas for greater efficiency and effectiveness.Provide individuals with professional and personal growth opportunities and development.Support the transition of certain accounting and transactional processing functions to a shared service organization.Strategic Business Partner

Deliver insightful analysis to the business unit president and leadership team in support of business objectives and decision-making. Oversee the preparation of strategic plans and annual budgets for the business unit, working with the business unit leadership team to critically review plans to ensure they meet both short- and long-run objectives.Serve as a key member of the business unit leadership team and Apogee Finance to drive and implement strategies that are critical to the overall business and financial success.Support the development and implementation of business unit strategies (STRAP), challenging the team to explore new opportunities for top and bottom-line growth. Ensure high quality decision support through financial analysis for geographic expansion opportunities, pricing strategy, customer and product profitability, new product development, manufacturing and supply chain optimization, capital asset investments, and potential acquisitions.Lead the business units in preparation of the budget, Annual Operating Plan (AOP).Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies/products, and regulatory actions.Support and critique new projects and ensure that ongoing business activities are delivering the requisite revenue, margin, and cash, while maintaining a bottom-line focus.Analyze business unit operations to pinpoint opportunities for greater efficiency and effectiveness.Education & Experience

Required:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field along with a minimum of 15+ years broad-based business experience, with prior experience in a similar role partnering with Executive leadership.Knowledge of financial tools (Excel, PowerBI, SAP-BPC, etc.)Ability to effectively manage and lead teams.Experience working in a matrix organization.Preferred:Experience working with and supporting manufacturing and/or construction industry.Master’s degree in business administration, accounting or finance (preferred).CPA (preferred).Apogee and our brands are an equal opportunity employer.
