The company completed several projects in Athens and at other southeastern universities prior to the Great Financial Crisis (“GFC”). At the same time, Landmark built a team of development, construction, property management, and asset management professionals, resulting in its current vertically-integrated platform.During the GFC, Landmark maintained a substantial balance sheet and aligned itself with institutional capital, allowing it to continue developing in a time when others could not, leaving the company well-positioned as the crisis came to an end. In 2012, in response to customer demand, Landmark began developing mid-rise and high-rise assets, which comprise the majority of the company’s assets today. Landmark continues to develop student cottages, but it has become increasingly difficult to identify sites that are both proximate to major universities and large enough to support an institutionally sized cottage asset. While student housing remains Landmark’s core business, the company recognizes the value in diversifying its asset base. In 2020, Landmark launched its build-to-rent division, which capitalizes on the company’s past experience in developing and operating rental homes.Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
