What You’ll Do:

We are looking for an experienced corporate attorney to partner with and advise business teams on a variety of commercial contracts and legal issues. The position represents an excellent opportunity to make substantial contributions to a dynamic business. The successful candidate will be an experienced commercial contracts attorney that is a team player and someone who can creatively solve problems, make process improvements while applying sound business and legal judgment to a wide variety of commercial contracts and relationships. This position will report to the Deputy GC.Manage the day-to-day contract drafting and review process for all aspects of the Company’s business.Develop strong understanding of the Company’s business needs and knowledge of the cannabis industry laws and regulation to create leading model contracts and provide bespoke solutions to the business teams.Develop, improve and implement processes around contracting and contract compliance; be an engine of moving to best practice; master software platforms used in the legal function and participate in their development.Assist in negotiating and implementing the Company’s strategic projects, including assistance in due diligence and transaction closings.Provide litigation support with respect to the Company’s commercial disputes.Support the maintenance of the Company’s legal structure and advice on corporate governance; provide support with implementing reorganizations and tax structures.Assist with other corporate matters that arise in the day to day of the legal function including litigation and assist with special projects on an as-needed basis.

What You’ll Bring:

Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.At least six years law firm or a combination of law firm and in-house hands-on experience drafting and negotiating contracts.Experience effectively handling a high volume and variety of commercial legal work.Experience creating contract templates and managing contract databases.Excellent written and verbal skills, and the ability to effectively present, train and influence legal and non-legal team members.Highly organized, flexible, and able to effectively prioritize a wide range of tasks and responsibilities.Ability to work well under pressure, with good judgment and decision-making abilities.Aptitude to learn quickly and develop new skills.Licensed to practice law in NY, IL, AZ, NV or eligible to be admitted as registered in-house counsel.In-house counsel experience, preferred.Cannabis industry experience, preferred.
