Job DescriptionWork ArrangementHybrid - Position does not require an employee to be on-site full-time but the general expectation is the employee be onsite an average of three (3) days each week.

The RoleGeneral Motors is seeking an experienced corporate attorney to join GM’s Legal Staff. The attorney will be responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to GM’s Corporate Development and Global M&A department (“CDGMA”) and other internal business units. Reporting to the Lead Counsel, Corporate Development, this attorney will assist with the negotiations of complex transactions and will provide legal advice and business counsel to GM on a global scale.

As a member of GM’s Legal Staff, the attorney would be expected to deliver high performance legal services with high integrity. GM Legal Staff’s objectives are to deliver timely, best-in-class business advisory and legal services in close collaboration with business partners to accomplish their objectives while simultaneously protecting GM’s high standards of legal, ethical, and financial integrity.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)Strong skills in drafting, negotiating, interpreting, and advising on a broad range of corporate transactions and related issues including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and minority investmentsExperience negotiating complex global commercial agreements, including supply, distribution, manufacturing, and co-development agreementsExperience coordinating corporate and M&A due diligence efforts and working with subject matter experts.Manage the use of external legal counsel to effectively leverage their expertise.Develop a thorough understanding of, and familiarity with, GM’s businesses, products, future goals, and the regulatory schemes under which GM operates.Maintain knowledge and expertise in cutting edge corporate and M&A law concepts and practicesContribute to the development and implementation of corporate and commercial legal strategies and policies for the CDGMA and legal leadership teams

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)Significant Mergers & Acquisitions experience in relevant law firm and/or in-house legal experience in sophisticated transactional work handling complex corporate matters.Law degree from an accredited law school with excellent academics.Active license to practice law in Michigan or at least one other US jurisdiction, and (if not admitted in Michigan) the ability to qualify for in-house practice in MichiganDemonstrated experience in highly collaborative teams, partner effectively with colleagues, and takes initiative to deliver business results.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously effectively

CompensationThe expected base compensation for this role is

$165,000 - $215,000 . Actual base compensation within the identified range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.

Bonus PotentialAn incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
