Our goal is to reflect the diversity of our clients and the communities in which we practice.What You Will Be DoingThe Legal Personnel and Recruitment Manager is responsible for all personnel-related matters and projects for the attorneys in WilmerHale's Denver office. The Legal Personnel and Recruitment Manager is also responsible for all summer associate, entry-level associate, and post-judicial clerk hiring and will support local lateral hiring as needed. The Manager will also oversee and execute law school and law student outreach for our Denver summer program.The Legal Personnel and Recruitment Manager works collaboratively with the broader Legal Personnel and Development Department to achieve the Firm's talent management goals and objectives.Legal Personnel
Handles employee relations issues, serving as a resource and providing counsel, when appropriate, to all attorneys on personnel issues, leaves, career questions and employee relations matters.Under the Career Advancement Program, supports the implementation of lawyer evaluation, retention, compensation and promotion programs and processes in the Denver office and ensures excellent delivery of services regarding same.Provides local support of the Associates, Senior Associates and Counsel Committees.Manages orientation, onboarding, integration, offboarding and outplacement programs and efforts in the Denver office for legal talent. Collaborates with department and office leadership regarding lawyer headcount.Supports various committees including the Women’s Leadership Initiative, Diversity Committee, and the Associates Committee Task Force (ACTF) in the Denver offices.Summer Associate Program
In collaboration with the Director, Legal Recruitment, successfully designs, manages, and evaluates all aspects of the firm’s Summer Associate Program including, pre-arrival processes and communications, orientation, mentoring program with partners and associates, social and community service events, diversity events and initiatives, educational and special firm programming.In conjunction with Hiring Partner, Summer Program Co-Chairs, and Practice Managers generates interest and solicits substantive summer associate work assignments and observational opportunities from the firm’s practice areas and pro bono programs.In conjunction with Hiring Partner and Director, Legal Recruitment, manages the evaluation and offer process for summer associates.Law School and Judicial Clerk Recruitment
In collaboration with the Director, Legal Recruitment and Hiring Partner, effectively and efficiently manages the judicial clerk and law school student recruitment process including supporting efforts for the firm’s branding initiatives and targeted law school communications.With the Hiring Partner, leads the Hiring Committee and oversees successful on-campus and in-office interviewing, effective offer extension and follow up. Successfully meets hiring targets.Ensures accuracy of recruitment data. Creates and maintains recruitment reports, metrics and analysis for internal and external purposes.Responsible for ensuring consistent application of firm wide recruitment policies and procedures.Proposes and implements strategy for law student outreach and law student intern program(s) through communications with law school placement offices, law student affinity and interest groups, email campaigns to 1Ls, and other means.Keeps apprised of market trends, NALP policies and individual school recruiting rules.Lateral Attorney Hiring
In collaboration with the Director, Legal Recruitment and Lateral Recruitment Manager, locally manages aspects of the non-partner lateral attorney recruitment and onboarding processes.Human Resource Liaison – Professional Staff
Assists with local HR support to include greeting candidates for interviews, assisting new employees with onboarding, and supporting the execution of office level professional development and training programs. May also assist with local performance management duties, if needed.Responds to general information requests of support staff and working in conjunction with the Employee Relations/HR team, provides policy updates ensuring consistency in the interpretation, communication, application and administration of firm policy. Connects staff to appropriate HR or other Administrative Department liaison as necessary.Budget
In alignment with the firm’s strategic goals, objectives, and initiatives, assists with the annual budget preparation and monthly monitoring of accounts, anticipates and resolves discrepancies, handles related payments, reimbursements, and issues for the Denver legal personnel and recruiting budgets.Service Excellence
Contributes to the Firm’s Service Excellence initiative to consistently improve its image internally and externally. Display professionalism, quality service and a “can do” attitude to internal members/departments of the firm as well as external clients and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person.Required Skills
