Overview

The Vermont Office of the Attorney General, Department for Children and Families, Family Services Legal Division, has an immediate opening for an energetic and talented full-time Assistant Attorney General who will be responsible for representing the Department for Children and Families before the Human Services Board.

Description

This Assistant Attorney General's primary role will be to conduct administrative hearings before the Vermont Human Services Board. In addition, this position will also include responsibility to litigate juvenile cases before the Vermont Superior Court, and to provide counsel to the Department for Children and Families. Travel across the state will be required, but Waterbury is the primary location for this position.

Compensation

This Assistant Attorney General position is an exempt full-time position. Salary and benefits will be based upon qualifications and experience in accordance with the State of Vermont Attorney Pay Plan. Minimum Requirements

Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be capable of working as part of a team. Candidates must be willing to travel and work independently, but within the structure of a government legal team. Candidates must be a member in good standing of the Vermont bar, or eligible to waive in.

Preference will be given to applicants with relevant experience, especially in Vermont. Self-reliance, IT skills, and knowledge of state and federal regulations and policies governing the Family Services Division are a plus.
