www.rakuten.com .SUMMARY:Rakuten Rewards seeks a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our rapidly growing engineering team. We’re an international team spanning three continents responsible for building software used by millions of users. This role requires a well-rounded engineer who can be self-sufficient and approach opportunities by thinking through the complete end-to-end solution.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Designing and implementing server-side logic, including developing the logic for database interactions, server-side applications, and data storage solutions.Reviewing code from junior developers or peers, suggesting improvements, and ensuring that the code adheres to the company's quality standards.Optimizing the application for speed and scalability, ensuring that it can handle a high volume of users without performance issues.Collaborating with other team members, including front-end developers and product managers, to understand requirements and provide backend solutions.Staying up-to-date with industry trends and new technologies, continuously learning and upgrading skills to ensure effective solutions.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Experience working with serverless and monolith architectures at a production level.Demonstrated experience with service-oriented architecture concepts, principles, and patterns.Designed event-driven architecture for multiple services to consume.Designed, built, and maintained RESTful APIs and experience with event-driven queues.Excellent understanding of OOP design principles.Experience with AWS platform architecture or similar PaaS: EC2, CloudFront, Lambda, API Gateway, Apache Kafka, and S3.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Experience with database technologies and a strong understanding of database schema design.Familiarity and troubleshooting experience with observability tools like Datadog.QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.Minimum of 5 years of production-level backend application development experience.Minimum of 2 years of production-level application development experience using TypeScript, ideally using Node.js.Minimum of 2 years of production-level application development experience using Java, ideally using Quarkus or Spring.Nice to have:Production-level development using Python or Golang.Experience with a Frontend JavaScript Framework, like React, Vue.js, or Angular.Worked with automated CI/CD pipelines: Jenkins, GitHub Actions.#LI-CW1Five Principles for Success:Our worldwide practices describe specific behaviors that make Rakuten unique and united across the world.
