Through its global brand marketing and sales efforts, Los Angeles Tourism works to inspire visitors to immerse themselves in the kinds of unscripted moments and meaningful experiences that can only happen in LA.THE OPPORTUNITYWe are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in overseeing various financial activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficient financial operations. This individual will be responsible for managing complex accounting tasks, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and contributing to the overall financial operations of the organization.WHAT YOU WILL DOPartner with the Senior Director of Accounting in managing the month-end and year-end general ledger closing processes, taking the lead in preparing routine journal entries and account reconciliations, including consolidation expenses from foreign offices. Ensure accounting procedures and controls consistently align with U.S. GAAP, and maintain all supporting files in accordance with LA Tourism's Document Retention Policy. (30%)Oversee administration of the departmental credit cards, including proper coding and allocation by funding source. Prepare monthly reconciliations of all credit card charges and collaborate with Departments to address any issues. (20%)Collaborate with the Manager of Accounts Payable on T&E Policy enforcement, taking the lead on executing monthly reviews and reporting of exceptions. (15%)Assist in managing the administration of LA Tourism’s banking relationships and accounts. Prepare monthly bank reconciliations. Prepare and audit bank account deposits. (10%)Participate in the annual external audit process by preparing audit schedules, gathering supporting documentation, and responding to auditor inquiries. (10%)Provide support to departments in addressing inquiries on general ledger transactions and reporting, investigate and communicate reasons for variances, and educate team members on LA Tourism finance policies and procedures. (10%)Perform other duties as assigned. (5%)WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEEDBachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3-5 years experience in Finance and Accounting is required.Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license and be able to drive a vehicle for work-related travel as needed and as applicable to the position. Must be willing to partake in a comprehensive background check including a drug test in accordance with applicable laws.Experience with financial management systems (FMS) and other reporting software tools.Previous experience and solid understanding of GAAP.Experience in full-cycle accounting, accounting functions and workflows.Exceptional analytical abilities and very comfortable with large datasets.Ability to grasp concepts quickly and apply an analytical approach to projects, understanding the expected end-result.Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Dependable, great attitude, highly motivated and a team player.Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines.Ability to communicate effectively across various departments.Ability to work in a changing environment.NICE TO HAVESWorking directly with or in a not-for-profit organization.COMPENSATION RANGEExact compensation may vary based on skills and experience.$80,000- $95,000Bonus EligibleWHAT’S IN IT FOR YOUAt Los Angeles Tourism, we believe your best work happens when you have the tools to stay healthy, enjoy the present moment, save for your future, and look forward to coming into work.
