Are you ready to lead the charge?Essential duties and ResponsibilitiesInnovate ink technology to position Avient as a leader in specialty solutions.Build partnerships to advance technology and access new markets.Manage innovation portfolios to meet business goals.Foster a creative and cooperative work environment.Achieve key vitality metrics in the Technology department.Lead a team of chemists and technicians towards company objectives.Modify formulations while preserving key qualities.Create inks tailored to market needs, including sustainable options.Work with international teams managing labs in the United Kingdom and China to adapt products and share expertise.Process Development: Work with departments to upscale production processes.Material Selection & Management: Select and assess materials for optimal product characteristics.Ensure continuity of supply by substituting materials where necessary.Develop and execute strategies for cost efficiency in collaboration with key teams.Ensure compliance and safety through rigorous testing and regulatory adherence.Innovation and Networking: Cultivate a network to drive innovation and leverage new opportunities.Provide essential product information to enhance marketing and sales initiatives.Safety and Performance Advocacy: Promote a culture of safety and high performance within the team.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsEducation and Experience:This position requires a B.S. in chemistry, polymer science.Hands-on experience in formulating, designing, and testing new products.Track record of innovation taking new products from idea to commercialization.Leadership in technical collaboration with both in-house and remote team members.Expertise in textile screen printing and/or similar industries preferred.Additional Qualifications:Knowledge of statistical methods for design optimization and quality assurance.Deep understanding of color mixing systems and color theory.Experience in chemical manufacturing and mixing techniques (solid/liquid, liquid/liquid) an advantage.ScopeThis role manages a team of approximately 30 global technical professionals and has a budget of over $3.5 million.Physical DemandsThe characteristics listed below are representative of the physical and environmental demands required by an individual to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.
