For more information about Draper, visit www.draper.com.Job Description Summary:A Senior Radio Frequency, DSP, or Communications Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and testing of radio frequency (RF), or wireless circuits, or communications systems. This engineer is expected to demonstrate strong understanding of at least one area on RF and Electromagnetic principles, RF simulation tools, Digital Signal Processing algorithms, or Communications. They should have the ability to troubleshoot and solve complex RF or Communications problems. The role requires excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary groups, including software, hardware, and material engineering.Job Description:Duties/ResponsibilitiesDesign RF systems and networks, including cabling, switches, routers, and access points, and troubleshoot and test network components.Design, develop, implement, and maintain Internet Protocol (IP)-based network technologies and applications.Design, debug, and test network management software and operating systems.Design, develop, and implement network security and device management systems and applications.Design, develop, and implement network storage and backup systems.Design, develop, and implement network monitoring and fault tolerance systems.Manage complex engineering projects in a fast-paced environment.Develop and maintain effective internal/external relationships.Develop and maintain expertise in telecommunications technology and network architectures.Use standard laboratory instrumentation for validation and troubleshooting.Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction - contribute to requirements development, propose ways forward, and adapt appropriately to changes in requirements.Perform analysis and modeling of complex radio frequency systems.Contribute to customer presentations.Provide insight and suggest design modifications based on analysis outcomes, and apply analysis techniques across a range of technical disciplines.Identify program/system-level technical risks and develop and execute mitigation strategies.Expertise in using RF software and hardware tools.Actively mentor less experienced engineers and provide thoughtful, constructive feedback.Ability to lead a team of engineers.Perform other related duties as assigned.Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of at least one area:RF systems and architecturesRF active and passive circuits and components (LNAs, filters, mixers, etc.)Fundamentals of electrical engineering (noise, linearity, stability, etc.)Knowledge of electromagnetic conceptsDSP algorithms design and implementationKnowledge of digital communications theory and systemsSkills with at least one set of tools:RF software tools (ADS, AWR, HFSS, or similar)MATLAB or PythonSoftware Defined Radios toolsHands-on experience with instrumentation for RF measurement (VNA, etc.).Excellent mathematical skills.Strong problem-solving skills.Excellent verbal and written communication skills and willingness to work in a highly collaborative team environment.Excellent management and organizational skills: proven ability to meet deadlines, task prioritization, and attention to detail.EducationRequires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred.ExperienceRequires 5-7 years of experience in Radio Frequency or Communications Engineering or related field.Additional Job Description:Proven record designing waveforms for various applications and environments.Knowledge of signal processing concepts for communications, detection & estimation theory.Background in PHY layer topics, like modulation schemes, coding, channel modeling.Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools like MATLAB and experience with Python.Experience implementing fieldable prototypes and conducting their testing and validation.Background in wireless technologies, like 5G, LTE-M, or mmWave.Knowledge of low probability of intercept/detection (LPI/LPD) techniques.Familiarity with Machine Learning techniques in communications.Security Requirement:Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance, with the ability to acquire Top Secret.Job Location - City:
