The Automation Systems Group is responsible for the design, construction and support of cutting-edge data center automation and control infrastructure. The department collaborates with Operations, Sales, Engineering, Information Technology and Management to ensure the system continues to fulfill Vantage customer requirements. Automation Systems works closely with partner contractors to come up with the best design and helps lead these partners to success by providing accurate requirements, goals, and timelines. In addition to design and construction, we are also responsible for the technical requirements of the Operations department involving troubleshooting, calibrating, and repairing mission critical control systems throughout all Vantage locations.Position Overview
Vantage is looking for an ambitious, detail-oriented, hands-on Automation Operations Manager to lead building automation efforts for existing data center Building Automation Systems. The Automation Operations Manager will lead a team of automation specialists to troubleshoot, calibrate and maintain all aspects of our building automation systems across all North America Campuses.Responsibilities
Work closely with Operations management to establish priorities, resolve technical problems, and maintain standardized documentation.Lead implementation support for company building automation systems & process data collection systems.Provide leadership to enhance organizational capability through training, mentorship and operational support, and drive a cross functional high-performance work team environment, including plant and regional operational technical resources, engineering, and IT.Lead and facilitate a collaborative environment to include internal resources and external vendors / consultants to deliver operational and project support to our datacenter operations teams.Develop detailed project plans and complete projects on time, in scope and budget that support operations goals and improve operational capability.Essential Job Functions
Leads Automation Operations projects that align with business vision, strategy, and deployment within the company.Provide leadership in knowledge transfer and implementation of approved standards and practices for IT/OT systems, including network implementation, PLC’s and field devices, and IT systems.Manage internal and external resources to deliver the highest quality, first class service to operations and other customers.Provide leadership in troubleshooting and root cause analysis to effectively resolve issues and deliver sustainable solutions while enhancing resource capability.Facilitate and support the numerous control systems within Operations, collaborating with Engineering, IT, Operations and Corporate management and vendor resources.Provide leadership and management of staff in all the above areas to include all supervision, performance management, career development, and all other personnel related functions.Duties
Collaborate with members of the Design Engineering and Construction team during projects, as well as members of the Reliability Engineering and Site Operations teams.Develop and carry out implementation plans for the automation upgrades for existing facilities.Develop task prioritization and scheduling for allocating resources and maintenance timelines.Lead our Manage Engine ticketing system to schedule work based on Operations request.Handle on-call schedules, Pager Duty, for Automation system personnel.Develop and maintain standard communication and technical documentation for Automation aspects of project implementation (RFIs, Transmittals, Submittals, Change Requests, Project Plans, Status Updates, etc.).Job Requirements
3-5 years of experience in managing and supporting controls and automation.Data Center project experience preferred but not required.Proven success in Operations Management.Experience leading a team of automation specialists to provide control system solutions.Proficiency with MS Project, MS Office, and MS SharePoint.Travel required is expected to be 25% but may increase over time as the business evolves.Additional Details
