What's the job?The Controls Project Engineer (internally referred to as the Central Controls Engineer) will provide dedicated support to all sites within the Siding Products Group throughout the implementation of Manufacturing 4.0 initiatives to accelerate integration and future advancement improvements to support business results. This position will provide technical leadership to production, engineering, and maintenance operations for 4.0-related projects. This may include the research, design, budgeting, scheduling, and management of capital projects as well as providing daily technical and troubleshooting support to the facility. This position will also provide leadership in identifying and executing scalable opportunities to standardize equipment and processes across sites. The Central Controls Engineer will work to develop the automation and controls staff within the group to further their knowledge within the field. As part of the Advanced Manufacturing team, the Central Controls Engineer will represent the voice of the automation and controls staff when developing future 4.0 strategies and projects.Essential functions include:Assessment of manufacturing processes, design scalable efforts to automate manual activities and reduce operational effort and lead implementation of automation projects.Recommend and lead projects to standardize equipment and processes across multiple sites. Lead execution of developed strategy to achieve and sustain results.Work with engineers and technicians to integrate automation designs onto the production floor.Assist with troubleshooting efforts with the plant Mechanical Engineers, Process Engineers, and electrical maintenance department.Provide a voice for manufacturing plants to assist in identifying opportunities and needs to assist in developing an effective I4.0 strategy for SPG.Develop operation manuals and procedures for new systems.What do you bring?Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent RequiredRequires 5-10 years of applied professional experience in instrumentation & controls in a manufacturing environment.3-5 years of experience in project management is required.Background in building materials / exterior cladding industry highly desired.Ability to travel - approximately 25%
