The VP will have oversight of operations for 9 manufacturing sites which is expected to increase. This individual will be responsible for partnering with P&L owners to improve operations and validate and drive capital investment strategies while leveraging best practices that align with performance, innovation and speed across all product categories. He/she will be accountable for formulating strategies, objectives, overarching policies and operational guidelines to support the manufacturing and distribution of products to meet sales demand, as defined in the annual and long-range business plans. This will result in implementing corporate governance and reporting data back to key stakeholders.Qualifications and ExperienceUndergraduate degree (engineering preferred), combined with an MBA in operations or business management will be considered strong assets.Minimum of 15 years of successful experience in operations in positions of increasing responsibility, preferably from a manufacturing environment of relatively advanced products, where different levels of automation are required.Experience managing multi-site, multi-geography (potentially Mexico and China), end-to-end operations including manufacturing in a complex manufacturing business.Passion for Lean and Continuous Improvement with a history of successful implementations.Experience implementing and improving plant safety (EHS).Experience in the development of annual and long-range operational plans and budget management; must have strong financial acumen.Main ResponsibilitiesDevelop strategic plans for the operations group through the establishment of clear operating strategies, objectives, goals and action plans.Ensure operations functions execute tasks within defined quality, safety, environmental, and social responsibilities and accountabilities. Deliver expected cost and P&L outcomes and drive an environment of continuous improvement in all aspects of operational performance.Introduce and drive Lean manufacturing initiatives with a continued focus on process design, controls and operational efficiencies.Adapt or determine the organization’s course of action to execute against business priorities.Oversee operational integration activities for new acquisitions.Develop overall strategy concerning the efficient flow of products and information between manufacturing and customer deployment to meet customer requirements and the company’s profitability goals.Ensure all manufacturing processes are continually reviewed and scrutinized for improvement, and that appropriate innovations are evaluated and implemented as indicated.Establish appropriate metrics and controls to manage business risks and optimize performance. These should be standardized across sites where possible and roll into the appropriate KPI’s to align with the rest of the corporation.Manage system capacity in conjunction with P&L owners to enable growth and optimize cost.Participate with cross-functional leadership team to position the Operations team to respond to customer needs in product and service development, cost-effective production and efficient delivery of finished goods.Build and leverage a strong company culture, dedicated to product development, quality, operational execution, strategic customer intimacy and the corporate values.Oversee effective recruiting, training, development and succession planning to meet growth.Travel requirements will usually be 2 to 3 weeks per month.Competency/Success FactorsThe ability to assess talent resource needs based on team’s skills and capabilities; identifies retention risks and applies innovative practices to retain key talent.Capability to identify gaps for the business unit/function and develop an appropriate talent development strategy to meet future business needs.Ability to recognize new trends, emerging business models, and growth opportunities; takes calculated risks when generating a plan or strategy that aligns with the business unit/function’s vision.Execution and performance management skills; results-driven and strategically leads the team to develop and deliver common, aggressive goals and associated metrics.Acts as a role model for stepping up and taking bold actions when critical or challenging situations arise.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills; fact-based, hands-on, solicits broad input but makes rapid, sound decisions.Ability to attract, assemble and develop strong teams; constructs and executes compelling development plans.Strong communication, relationship building and influencing skills; develops credibility and trust with the senior executive team and interacts effectively with individuals throughout the organization.Dometic Group operates in the retail industry and manages the manufacturing, sales, and service of products for the outdoor market.
