SEA is seeking a dynamic and experienced attorney to join SEA’s commercial legal team providing legal support mainly for SEA’s Home Entertainment and Digital Appliance lines of business. Reporting to the VP, Commercial Law, you will be a role model and champion for the company’s values, standards, and culture with a “roll up your sleeves” approach that is efficient, non-bureaucratic, straightforward, and results-oriented. You should possess experience and style that encourages people to seek you out for trusted advice and counsel.

You will combine legal acumen with your substantial experience supporting sales, marketing, and technology functions in consumer goods to provide sound legal advice and leadership on a wide range of commercial and contractual matters affecting SEA’s business. Your primary responsibilities will include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial agreements, assessing potential risks, and providing guidance on various existing and emerging laws and regulations, in addition to supporting internal stakeholders by providing legal support and guidance on various business initiatives, product launches, and regulatory matters.Partner closely with internal stakeholders, including senior executives, sales teams, and various departments, to support commercial objectives while managing risks to the company.Provide guidance to senior management on issues relating to commercial transactions, eCommerce, and FTC issues.Analyze advanced and complex transactions, and propose innovative, creative, and workable solutions.Draft and negotiate various standard and non-standard commercial agreements including sales and distribution agreements, service contracts, promotional agreements, technology licensing, and real estate leases.Provide recurring updates to legal department management regarding contract status, volumes, issues encountered, etc.Proactively identify emerging legal and regulatory risks for the business team.Exercise independent, informed, and considered judgment with minimal supervision. Must have strong, complex, and strategic commercial experience with strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiating skills.Demonstrate process orientation as a team player with a strong focus on integrity and sharing capabilities.Deliver high-quality work under pressure while handling multiple competing priorities, and providing practical legal advice, while adapting to the external environment as organization evolves and grows.Skills And QualificationsMinimum QualificationsJuris Doctorate from an Accredited US Law School with 8-10 years of relevant legal experience.Member in good standing of one US State Bar, and ability to become member in good standing of NJ bar or qualify as in-house counsel in NJ.Experience providing legal support to retail and/or B2B sales and/or marketing teams preferred.Ability to make professional legal and business presentations in writing, through emails and reports, or orally, including complex legal, business, and technical matters to an audience of high technical skills, management, and operational experience.Ability to direct outside counsel cost-effectively, clearly define results to be achieved, make decisions, give direction, and measure individual/team performance and results.Experience with contract management processes and programs.Ability to build relationships with Business leads and serve as a pragmatic results-oriented legal professional.At Samsung, we believe that innovation and growth are driven by an inclusive culture and a diverse workforce.
