UI Engineer

Position DescriptionCGI is seeking a UI Engineer. In this role, you will lead the development and architecture of user interfaces for our web and/or mobile applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, front-end developers, and product managers, to create intuitive, visually appealing, and high-performance user interfaces. Your role involves both hands-on development and providing architectural guidance to ensure the scalability and maintainability of our UI components.This is a hybrid role requiring two days per week in any CGI office, and candidates must be willing to work Eastern Time Zone hours.Your future duties and responsibilities:Design and implement responsive, user-friendly, and visually appealing user interfaces for web and mobile applications.Define and implement the UI architecture and design patterns to ensure scalability, modularity, and maintainability of the codebase.Stay current with front-end development technologies, frameworks, and best practices to make informed architectural decisions.Optimize UI code and assets for performance and ensure fast load times and smooth user experiences.Ensure that UI components work seamlessly across different browsers and devices, addressing compatibility issues as needed.Maintain high code quality standards, conduct code reviews, and enforce best practices in UI development.Create and maintain documentation for UI components, including design patterns, usage guidelines, and coding standards.Required qualifications to be successful in this role:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.8+ years of experience in UI development, including experience as a lead or senior UI engineer.5+ years in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript (including modern frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js).Strong understanding of UI design principles, usability, and user experience (UX) concepts.Experience with responsive web design and mobile-first development; UI/UX design tools (e.g., Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD) is a plus.Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and build tools (e.g., Webpack).Experience with performance optimization techniques and tools.Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively in cross-functional teams.Portfolio of previous UI projects or contributions to open-source projects is a plus.CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role.
