The Turner Lab is focused on the study of the genetics of neurodevelopmental disorders, including autism and 9p minus syndrome. The computational activities include analysis of genomics datasets including those from novel genomic technologies, software design, and acceleration of computational workflows.Job Description

Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesImplements algorithms and computer software for analyzing omics-based data sets [high-throughput, massively parallel genomic/proteomic/clinical]; data management and analysis solutions that aid in the storage, investigation, and dissemination of large data sets.Coordinates research projects with other investigators and institutions.Participates in developing hypotheses and experimental design.Assists with reporting of methods, data, and results.Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in statistics, bioinformatics, computational biology, or related field.Experience working in unix/linux environments, including basic shell scripting.Familiarity with big data processing pipelines.Strong programming skills in C, C++, Java, or Python and expertise working with the statistical software R are strongly preferred.Training in statistics or machine learning a plus.Experience working with next-generation sequencing data is preferred and an interest in developing novel bioinformatic workflows and statistical methods to be applied in a biological setting is highly desirable.This position requires collaboration with research groups. Excellent written and oral communication skills are strongly preferred.Demonstrates a commitment to growth, attention to detail, and a pursuit of excellence.Good understanding of computational biology.Ability to analyze and interpret large complex data sets, such as genome sequencing, microarray gene expression studies, human genetic studies, and model organism studies, and to communicate data in a clear, concise manner.Expertise in standard bioinformatics tools.Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or related field plus two years of experience; or master’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, biostatistics, or related field; or combined education and experience of seven years.Grade

R09Salary Range

$40,900.00 - $74,200.00 / Annually. The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade, and department budget.Accommodation
