Description

The Employment Specialist assists clients in employment-related matters. S/he provides arange of employment/job development and employability case management services. Theobjective is to provide services that will lead clients to gainful employment, self-sufficiency andindependence. Parameters of service provision are spelled out in detail by our funders.Documentation demands are rigorous.

Essential Functions:1. Follow all Lutheran Services Carolinas policies and procedures.2. Provide professional, confidential, culturally- and socio-economically-sensitive employmentservices to clients. These services can include skills assessment, resume building, jobdevelopment, interview coaching, networking with area employer and employmentorientation.3. Provide case management services that assist clients in obtaining gainful employment.These services can include transportation and bus orientation to interviews, liaison withinterpreters, cultural orientation, and addressing other employment barriers such as healthcare, childcare, ESL and other services as identified.4. Document and report according to contractual requirements and in accordance with HIPAAguidelines.5. Prioritize tasks to guarantee proper case documentation and to ensure that the employmentneeds of our most vulnerable clients are addressed.6. Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, employers, co-sponsors and volunteers, local agencies and organizations, and funders.7. Design and conduct job development workshops as needed

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree or high school diploma (or equivalent) and two years experiencein job development or related employment activities.

Experience: Cross-cultural

Specific skills/abilities: Good public relations and interpersonal skills. Proficient in reading,writing and speaking skills in the English language. Proficient with computers and MicrosoftOffice tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Possess awareness and sensitivity to the servicepopulation's cultural and socio-economic characteristics is required. Effective in bridgingbetween the client's world and the employer's. Have insight into human behavior andmotivations. Be Compassionate. Have discretion and flexibility. Be willing to comply withrigorous documentation demands and have ability to calmly balance competing demands.Target languages--Dari, Pashto, Ukrainian, Russian, Arabic, Swahili, Spanish-notrequired but a bonus!

Specialized knowledge, licenses, etc: Valid NC or SC driver's license
