Burrow Global has an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Sr. Project Controls Cost Analyst for a chemical facility on the east side of Houston.

Sr. Project Controls Cost Analyst (PCA’s) are assigned the task of tracking and analyzing all costs associated with capital projects, assisting with the monthly cashflow forecast, supplemental AFE’s, change orders, etc. This includes the manual accruals that are part of the monthly expenditures to projects. PCA works with PM to account for variances to forecast each month. Performs research necessary to explain major variances.

Key assignment: Provide cost analysis on capital projects to notify Project Managers to proactively take action to mitigate any possible future issues. Understand the full project controls view that includes the project schedule and its effect on cost.

Ensure work processes are followed for documents processed through the department related to AFE’s (Authorization for Expenditures).Review and format AFE’s for submittal to management. Ability to review grammar, syntax, other content for correctness and ensure it is professionally presented.Responsible for resolving invoice related issues to projects within their assignments. This includes working with Procurement, Project Managers, Vendors, Accounts Payable.Responsible for initiating and following through on the capital closing work process to ensure that all capital projects are closed timely in accordance with company policies to allow depreciation to commence.Responsible for maintaining all data elements in the CMS Access database that is used for corporate capital reporting. This includes forecasts, budgets, actuals, approval information, status updates, percent completes, etc.Prepare any documentation involving the transfer of funds in or out of a capital project. This includes the backup information, routing the documents for approval and distribution and batching into Oracle the transactions for posting. These transfers include (not limited to) the Labor to AFE’s of the organizations personnel working on capital projects, the redistribution of contractor support personnel charges, taxes and/or capitalized interest levied to the projects, and any transfers moving expense to capital or capital to expense.Work closely with Finance to ensure that the Projects Module costs and the General Ledger costs are in balance monthlyCost Tracking through standard company spreadsheets. It is mandated that all cost analysts use the same format trackers, so that they function the same, and there is transitional ease when required.Responsible for entering AFE’s and Change Orders into the Oracle system for approval and tracking these approvals through until final distribution. This includes updating the SharePoint files and Master Project Files with approved versions of all funded projects.Assist with KPI reporting and ad-hoc capital reporting on an as-needed basis.Assist with department reporting needs as assigned and serve as backup to the Sr. Project Controls Specialist.Must be willing to handle own portfolio and assist co-workers when unforeseen events take place and there is a need for coverage.CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

Complex research and problem-solving skillsStrong analytical skillsPrimavera P6 experience a plus – looking for ability to understand project schedulesProficiency in Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPointOracle experience a plusAbility to manage multiple projects with varying complexityHave presentation skills to be able to participate in departmental training and meetingsAbility to challenge on a professional basis when necessary to enforce departmental policies and proceduresMust be able to work as a team player as well as work with limited oversight (self-driven and motivated)Ability to communicate clearly in a professional manner for all levels of the organizationStrong writing skills to be able to put documents and presentations together that are sent to Senior Leadership levels of organizationWilling to schedule earned time-off around department’s calendar deadlines. (month-end reporting periods, beginning of year, etc.)If asked to work from home, have a dedicated spot that allows concentration and focus on job tasksUnderstands that the typical projects are small to medium size. Job functions include many accounting type activities, not typical of large project controls teams.Understands that during certain times of the month and year, vacation is limited due to finance reporting deadlines.Willing to work a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off) but understands that business demands may require working Friday off (not typical)Majority of the work is remote but required to be in office for training, staff meetings, and project meetings- these are scheduled ahead of time for proper planning

Preferred Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting or applicants with significant field experience will also be considered

A minimum of 10 years of experience as project controls cost analyst or finance-related areas.
