$105,000 - $115,000 AnnuallyJob Overview:We are currently seeking a seasoned Associate Attorney to join our Public Schools and Education Department, focusing on special education legal matters. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of experience in representing school districts in various aspects of special education law, including litigation under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), developing Individual Education Programs (IEPs) for districts, navigating mediations under the Office of Special Education, and conducting due process hearings at the Office of Administrative Law. The role also encompasses dealing with laws such as Section 504, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Act, School Ethics Act, Open Public Records Act, and Open Public Meetings Act.We offer competitive compensation, including full coverage of single health insurance premiums and partial coverage for dependents, a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, and profit sharing.Key Responsibilities:Provide legal expertise in special education law, with a minimum of five years' experience in special education litigation, IEP development, mediation, and due process hearings.Exhibit strong interpersonal skills to interact professionally with school officials, legal professionals, and clients.Conduct thorough research and analysis on complex legal issues, offering well-founded opinions.Draft and prepare legal memoranda on diverse topics.Represent clients in various legal settings, including courts, mediations, and administrative hearings.Stay updated and proficient in advanced legal practices and techniques.Qualifications:Law degree from an accredited law school with admission to New Jersey Bar.At least five years of experience in school and special education law.Background in special education, labor relations, and negotiations.Excellent oral and written communication skills with a detail-oriented approach.Capable of working independently and prioritizing tasks effectively.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team.Drive to develop new client relationships through networking and marketing.Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit.Job Flexibility:This description outlines the typical duties of the role but is not exhaustive.
