Summary

The Development Director will develop and implement fundraising strategies and activities to advance the mission of Girl Scouts River Valleys. This position works collaboratively and strategically to cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, foundation, and government giving. Reporting to the Vice President of Advancement, the Development Director is responsible for building and maintaining a pipeline of donors including alumni support.

Through individual visits, personal solicitations, and leads from the Vice President of Advancement and the CEO, the Development Director will plan and execute tactical strategies that build the leadership giving pipeline; renew and upgrade donors, sponsors, and partners; invite donors to make multi-year commitments; and planned gifts. The Development Director will partner with the Vice President of Advancement to plan out the climate of giving utilizing data and support the team in building day-to-day strategies to meet fundraising goals.

ResponsibilitiesStrong fundraising skills are required.Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts from a portfolio of 100-125 donors and prospects (individuals, corporations, foundations, and government entities), spending most of the time in-person, video conference, or on the phone contact with donors, partners, volunteers, and prospects. Conduct 12+ face-to-face visits a month (can include revenue-generating video conferencing).Develop cultivation and solicitation strategies to build the donor base, focusing on annual/multi-year support, sponsorships, major gifts, and planned gifts by tracking, analyzing, and reporting on goals and progress toward metrics.Partner with the Development team on coordinating fundraising and organizational events.Partner with Communications team to develop comprehensive multichannel solicitation strategies using digital, print, event, and other communications to increase support.Maintain accurate records of actions, donor contracts, and plans in a timely fashion through The

Raiser's Edge NXT .Partner with the Vice President of Advancement; collaborate to identify cultivation and stewardship strategies through data analysis.Enter and manage proposals in planning, pending and funded in accordance with the standards and processes managed by the Database Manager.Manage signature fundraising event(s), donor cultivation and recognition events, alumni engagement events, and other fundraising events.Provide active coaching and guidance to team members to assist in their skill and competency building a high-performing, efficient, and effective team.Additional Duties and Responsibilities

Collaborate with colleagues across the council, GSUSA staff, and colleagues from other councils.Actively participate in all-staff meetings, staff in-service training, and other meetings.When representing the council to both internal and external audiences, articulate GSRV's desired image and position to all audiences.Actively support the council's commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, access, racial justice, and anti-racism. Conduct all activities with a high degree of cultural competency.Contribute to building a cohesive, flexible, and productive staff environment that demonstrates the values and mission of Girl Scouts and delivers high-quality customer service.Qualifications

Education and Experience

Strong fundraising skills required.Minimum 5 years of experience in a fund development environment or related field.Success in soliciting and closing major gifts ($25,000 or more).Demonstrated experience in annual fund growth and in the creation and implementation of successful multichannel gift strategies and tactics.Demonstrated experience using

Raiser's Edge NXT

or similar donor database to ensure strategic and effective administration of donations, donor engagement plans and activity reporting.Excellent communication skills, including written, in person and over the phone; demonstrated ability to work with a wide range of sensitive and confidential issues; and communicates effectively with a diverse group of girls, volunteers, and staff.Analytical thinker with the ability to develop and execute fundraising plans.Ability to coordinate multiple projects while managing conflicting priorities and deadlines.Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.Skills and Attributes

Exceptional time-management skills; ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; exceptional attention to detail to maintain accurate and reliable data.Strong collaborator and able to work collaboratively with development, finance and program staff to support organizational goals.Self-motivated, able to work independently and capable of analytical thinking with strong critical thinking skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel or related programs.Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends as required by position responsibilities.Comfortable working on remote servers, navigating cloud environments and navigating multiple data applications at the same time.
