JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a

Senior Catering Manager

for the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute located in Troy, NY. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) is a 4-year private institution with an enrollment of 7,000 students, including 3,400 on the meal plan. This position oversees a team that includes 4 Resident Dining Managers and 3 Culinarians. As the Lead Catering Manager, you will drive an innovative catering program at an account with a long-term, strong client relationship. A valid driver’s license is required.

The successful candidate will:

Identify customer needs and expectations.

Ensure that customer goals are aligned and met.

Educate and develop rapport with clients and promote partnerships.

Promote a customer/client-centered culture that strives to exceed customer and client needs.

Coordinate all unit catering initiatives to drive sales growth and track results.

Maintain and improve service levels resulting in increased customer satisfaction.

Ensure all HAACP standards are followed.

Demonstrate resourcefulness and quick responsiveness to client and customer requests.

Responsibilities:

Provide supervision for catering services at an account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention.

Oversee a highly complex and high volume of catering sales and functions exceeding $1.5M.

Contribute to account revenue and operating profit through the implementation of services and creation of growth opportunities.

Plan projects, including defining objectives, methods, timetables, and budget to support client and Sodexo's strategic plan.

Oversee Sodexo resources, recipes, systems, and use of catering programs to direct daily catering events.

Work with clients and customers to design events.

Ensure employees have appropriate equipment, supplies, and resources to meet goals and deadlines.

Establish and maintain a safe work environment to comply with all regulatory and Sodexo standards.

Comply with budget requirements by controlling costs and adjusting when necessary.

Supervise employees by delegating, assigning, and prioritizing activities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

3 years of management experience.

3 years of experience in catering, food production, or food service management.
