GEICO Staff Counsel - Law Office of Rhonda Long, Supervising Attorney of Las Vegas, NV, is seeking an Attorney

to defend lawsuits filed in Las Vegas, NV courts and other first-party insurance defense matters.

Primary Responsibilities:

Conducting legal research and drafting legal briefs, opinions, and memoranda.Providing opinions on liability, damages, and value as requested by the Claims Department.Preparing and handling pleadings, motions, and discovery, including depositions/examinations before trial and examinations under oath, and defending by trial or dispositive hearing, all matters assigned, as applicable.Travelling as required, including to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings, and conferences.

Basic Qualifications:

0-3 years of experience in related fieldJuris Doctor degree REQUIREDAdmission to the Nevada Bar REQUIREDMust be licensed in good standing to practice law in Nevada and meet and maintain licensing requirements including mandatory Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements where applicableMust be able to travel as required, including but not limited, to attend trials, hearings, depositions, management meetings and conferencesMust be able to document files in a clear, concise, professional written manner, to be understood by customers, clients, co-workers and other employees of the organizationMust be able to follow complex instructions, resolve conflicts or facilitate conflict resolution, and have strong organization/priority setting and multi-tasking skillsMust be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.

Preferred Qualifications:

Civil litigation experienceInsurance defense-related litigation experienceMust be able to communicate in a professional manner in person, via telephone and written correspondence/email.

Location:

HYBRID – This position requires working at the local staff counsel office 2-3 days per week and attending in-person hearings.
