ANTICIPATED RATE OF PAY: $21.63 - $26.44 hourly, $45,000 - $55,000 annually, dependent upon qualifications, plus a

comprehensive benefits package

to include membership in the Arizona State Retirement System

NATURE OF WORK

:

Under general supervision sets up and tests computers, peripherals, telecommunications equipment, and network devices and software; corrects computer problems; assists System Administrators or Network Engineers. Performs related work as required or assigned.

Incumbents in this position may perform in one or more of the following areas: Network Administration, Help Desk Technician, System Administration support, etc. Typical Duties may include, but may not be limited to: setting up and testing computers and peripherals; installing computer software; setting up and testing telecommunications equipment; set up, configuring and testing of network communications devices and software; identify and correct computer problems; install telecommunications cabling; assist System Administrators or Network Engineers with installations; manage basic operations of the centralized computer system; maintain time, expense, contacts, and assignment records; research hardware and software; train users.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Electronics, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education; two (2) years experience in, set-up, repair, and maintenance of computers, and other related peripheral equipment. Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver's license and have the ability to be covered by county insurance.

An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of:

capabilities, operation, and maintenance of computers;peripherals, and voice and data telecommunications and network equipment;techniques for setting up and testing computer systems;data communications principles;training methods and procedures.

Skill in:

effective customer-oriented service techniques;training others;identifying and resolving problems with computer software and hardware;operating microcomputers and related peripheral equipment;making minor adjustments to computer, telecommunications, and peripheral equipment.

:

Work is primarily performed under general supervision in an office setting with appropriate climate controls, outdoors in a variety of climatic conditions and may include work in confined spaces. May require travel, working early mornings, evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

:Essential functions of this position require: lifting, manual dexterity, fine motor skills, ability to communicate.

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting only occasionally, walking and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle
