The Azure AI Platform team is at the center of Microsoft’s AI revolution as the world moves towards integrating Artificial Intelligence, such as Large Language Models (LLMs), into services and applications that impact millions of people in their day-to-day lives. Inside the AI Platform air-gapped team, you will have the opportunity to deliver transformational AI capabilities to Microsoft’s air-gapped clouds for use in critical customer missions.Our team is looking for a skilled Principal Software Engineer who is enthusiastic about creating scalable, distributed, highly-available, and secure cloud services on the Microsoft AI Platform. We are developing solutions aimed at data scientists, IT administrators, and developers to enhance the experience of their customers with advanced AI capabilities.Required5+ years of experience building and shipping production software or services.Other RequirementsSecurity Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.The successful candidate must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph.Clearance Verification: This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements.Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Citizenship & Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.Preferred QualificationsExperience in development in the Kubernetes ecosystemExperience in building large scale cloud services, distributed systems, or operating systemsExperience developing applications hosted on top of Azure, AWS, or other similar cloud platformsExperience with improving service operations or engineering fundamentals.Demonstrated problem solving and debugging skillsSoftware Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $137,600 - $267,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $180,400 - $294,000 per year.Microsoft will accept applications for the role until September 12, 2024.Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
