About the Opportunity

The Senior Cost Accountant is a key member of Driscoll's US Controllership team. They combine costing expertise and business acumen to properly account for some of Driscoll's most mission critical financial transactions, including fruit and packaging. The Cost Accountant performs accounting and cost accounting duties of a complex nature requiring professional experience and knowledge of accounting principles. Actively participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of cost accounting and inventory management systems, to accurately report the costs of the company's fruit, packaging products and other services. Responsible for the accuracy, integrity and for appropriate controls to be put in place for the inventory system; e.g. master files, system access, policies, processes and sub ledgers. Assist in developing accounting process to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting of fruit and non-fruit inventory related transactions.

Responsibilities

Daily/WeeklyResponsible to update costing on inventory items on a weekly basisMonitors inventory quantities, activities and adjustments in multiple locationsProvide weekly validation invoice report to accounts payable for payment approvalPresent monthly actual versus budget analytics to help managementWork with third party vendors on cooling services, review fruit volumes and invoicesWork with vendor portal sites to gather information for internal useTrack the movement of inventory through transfers and returns between locationsCreate and maintain standard costs on inventory, and maintain data on non-inventory items

Month EndRun inventory reports, providing full analysis of data by item, location, and costPrepare and enter multiple Journal Entries for month end closePerform reclassification and accrual research between GL accountsComplete inventory revaluation analysis for fruit and packagingComplete fruit cost of goods sold accrual journal entries and supporting validation analysisExecute service margin related journal entries, validation and financial review processPrepare excel and other intricate and specialized reports for cost of packaging and cost of fruitPartner with the Procurement team to provide analysis on costing and profitability by item/SKU #Provide inventory reserve analysis and proposals for booking reserves on a quarterly basisComplete account reconciliations of inventory and other accounts

OngoingCreate and update standard operating procedures (SOP's)Collaborate with other departments such as accounts payable, purchasing, logistics, distribution, etc.Collaborate with internal IT department and business project managers on new developmentsAbility to work with and manipulate large amounts of dataWork with PBC schedules, auditor requests and provide sample dataContributes to the Business Unit's people priorities and objectives regarding people leader effectiveness, engaged employees, and enabling others to perform.Domestic and international travel required up to 10%.Represents Driscoll's in an ethical and business-like professional manner in all interactions with growers, co-workers, suppliers, customers and the business community at large.

Candidate Profile

RequirementsBachelor's degree in accounting or related field (essential)5+ years of accounting work experience (essential)Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Experience with Accounting ERP system

Compensation & Benefits :

The following information is provided in good faith as a general description of the salary range and benefits for the position posted. The actual compensation offered to the successful candidate is dependent upon experience, skills, education, work location, internal pay equity, and other objective job-related factors.

Salary Range estimated for the Senior Cost Accountant:

$84,800 - $108,700

USD.
