Manager, CopywritingThe Manager, Copywriting role will create connections with fans through thought-provoking copy, expand our brand’s verbal expression, and develop language for a wide range of brand initiatives like narrative positioning, campaign language development, and general advertising and storytelling support. As a copywriter, you will develop ideas, brainstorm, and assist with production on multiple projects, while applying your messaging and writing skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. This role is a storyteller of the brand and a key contributor in building a legacy for the Olympic and Paralympic movement through the lens of the fans and athletes.This is a results-focused role for a hands-on person who is driven to create tangible outputs with cross-functional teams, and who is confident in being a brand steward of LA28. He/she/they will report to the Sr. Director, Marketing and Brand Engagement.Key Responsibilities:Write high level branded copy with extreme attention to detail.Expand, refine and craft the brand’s verbal expression in accordance with respective platforms.Collaborate with digital content, website, marketing and communications team to develop ideas, refine concepts and ensure creative vision is met through the messaging for various initiatives and projects.Keen understanding of consistency and its importance when crafting a tone of voice across various platforms including but not limited to website, e-mail, social media, and communications.Participate in brainstorming sessions to contribute to the development of creative concepts and cultivate new ideas.Manage and develop creative briefs, guidelines, playbooks, recaps, and other written projects.Contribute to digital and communication team’s overall marketing plans and activities.Write content across all platforms including web, socials, and communications platforms.Work on special projects in collaboration with Sr. Director, Marketing and Brand Engagement.Minimum Requirements:4-6 years of copywriting experience ideally in an agency or brand setting.Highly knowledgeable and based in or willing to relocate to the Southern California/Los Angeles area.Proven experience developing and executing compelling written materials across website, email, social, and marketing and communication campaigns.Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.Experience writing for diverse audiences and creating inclusive content.Awareness of current events, social issues, and trends related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and communications.Passionate about writing and keeping up with industry standards including but not limited to accessibility requirements.Strong copywriting skills and an adaptable voice/style for varying accounts.Self-starter who is highly passionate about the Olympic and Paralympic movement.Skilled at working quickly, being resourceful, and paying attention to details.Creativity, adaptability and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.Education / Training / Certifications:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in writing, English, communication or marketing.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other project management tools.Experience with SEO language and social media marketing, preferred but not required.Prior experience in the sports industry is a bonus but not required.Submission Requirements:Resume.Portfolio or writing examples are NOT required at time of application.LA28-USOPP does not provide relocation assistance. The annual base salary range for this position is $80,000.00 - $105,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role.
