Job Description: Springfield Technical Community College seeks applicants for the position of Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Adjunct Faculty. This adjunct faculty is responsible for planning and delivering instruction to a diverse population of students, assessing academic performance, and supporting student success. The candidate must be competent to deliver a broad scope of clinical laboratory science practice and have documented expertise in their area(s) of teaching responsibility. SAMPLE OF DUTIES: Leadership and Management: Collaborates with the Department Chair to meet the long-range and strategic plans of the campus and the MLT program. Works collaboratively with Department Chair and faculty to complete annual program evaluation. Submits all reports and requests as set forth by the Department Chair and Dean. Attend all meetings as required. Teaching & Assessment: Assesses student progress toward program goals consistent with the College's Student Success Plan. Ensures that student learning outcomes for courses are current and assessed regularly. Teaches didactic education component of MLT courses to students from diverse backgrounds. Evaluates student academic performance in line with department policies. Provides guidance to students in their learning and educational planning. Personnel: Participates in campus/off-campus events and professional development activities. Facilities: Ensures utilization and proper maintenance of specialized learning equipment. Fiscal: Forwards recommendations on instructional supply and equipment needs to the Department Chair. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Serves on college committees and task forces. Performs other related duties as assigned. PROJECTED AVAILABLE COURSES: Medical Microbiology (bacteriology) Phlebotomy and Specimen Handling Urinalysis and Body Fluids Requirements: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Proof of a current ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification. Minimum of three (3) years of recent experience as an instructor in laboratory medicine. Knowledge of education methods and current NAACLS accreditation procedures. Experience in curriculum design and clinical coordination preferred. Initial and continued employment dependent upon meeting a National Background Check and medical requirements.
