A law firm in Morristown, NJ is seeking an Intellectual Property Income Partner with extensive experience in global patent prosecution and opinion work within the life sciences sector. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in biotech and pharma, with a focus on patent prosecution and counseling. This role requires superior academic credentials and exceptional communication skills. The successful candidate will bring a strong work ethic and a proven track record in handling complex intellectual property matters.Duties and Responsibilities:Lead and manage global patent prosecution efforts, particularly in the life sciences sector.Provide expert legal opinions on patent matters, including validity, infringement, and freedom-to-operate.Handle licensing and agreement work related to patent rights and intellectual property.Develop and implement strategic IP portfolios for clients, particularly in biotech and pharma.Counsel clients on IP-related business decisions and intellectual property strategies.Represent clients in negotiations, disputes, and other IP-related matters.Maintain and build client relationships, leveraging existing portable business when possible.Mentor and collaborate with junior attorneys and support staff on IP matters.Stay current with trends and developments in intellectual property law and life sciences.Requirements:Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.Admission to practice law in the state.PhD in biological sciences is preferred.10+ years of experience in intellectual property law with a focus on life sciences, particularly biotech.Demonstrated expertise in patent prosecution, counseling, and licensing.Proven track record of handling complex IP matters and managing global patent portfolios.Small amount of portable business is a plus.Education:Juris Doctorate (JD) required.PhD in biological sciences preferred.Certifications:Licensed to practice law in the state.Skills:Superior academic record and excellent written and oral communication skills.Strong life sciences background, particularly in biotech.Expertise in global patent prosecution and counseling.Experience in licensing and IP agreements.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage complex IP portfolios and strategic counseling.Effective negotiation and client management skills.
