The Episcopal Church of St. John in the WildernessLocation : Flat Rock, NCJob DescriptionSummarySt John in the Wilderness Parish is seeking an experienced Director of Music/Organist who plans, organizes, and directs parish music programs to enhance worship and the spiritual experience of our church community. The Director of Music provides music and musical leadership for regular Sunday services and other services that are part of the church’s liturgical year, including Easter, Advent, and Christmas. The Director of Music/Organist provides music for other occasions as requested, such as weddings and funerals.ResponsibilitiesLead music at all liturgies and services on Sunday mornings and other special services as required by the Rector and as described in the church calendar year.Conduct weekly choir rehearsals; maintain music library.Submit text and music to staff for printing in weekly/special bulletins.Direct outreach events into the community.Oversee, strengthen the music ministry, recruit, and encourage musicians within and outside the congregation.Prepare and monitor the music ministry budget; present the annual budget to Finance Committee.Qualifications and SkillsSuperb musician with a commitment to excellence in liturgical worship.Knowledge of traditional sacred music, Episcopal liturgical practice, and the use of music in worship.Proficiency in both choir conducting and organ playing.Excellent communication skills.Ability to collaborate with staff and laity.Type of Commitment : Part TimeDoes this job pay? : YesApplication ProcessTo Apply:Send the following documentation to Attn: Personnelofficeadmin@stjohnflatrock.org● Cover Letter● Resume● A list of 3 to 5 References● Audio or video links of two performances
