In this vital role, you will be a part of the Therapeutic Discovery organization joining the Lead Discovery and Characterization Department in support of Amgen’s small molecule drug discovery pipeline.The development and optimization of novel cell-based assays to support HTS, lead optimization, and mechanism-of-action studies for promising therapeutic targets.Design and implement laboratory experiments, generate & interpret data supporting the successful development of new assays and test the biological effects of therapeutic agents.Design, implement, and optimize gene-editing workflows to enable the development and evaluation of cell-based functional assays.Learn, apply, and incorporate automation solutions during assay development, troubleshooting, data analysis, and reporting.Investigate, identify, develop, and optimize new methods/techniques to generate reliable and reproducible data.Semi-independently plan and implement experiments, adapt to changing project needs, and develop problem-identification and resolution skills.Maintain proficiency with the latest scientific literature and contribute to the interpretation of results in group discussions.Show excellent collaboration and communication skills as this role requires working closely with other scientists.Adherence to good laboratory conduct, documentation practices, and safety guidelines.What we expect of you
The dynamic professional we seek is a scientist with these qualifications.Basic Qualifications:
Master's degree and 2 years relevant experience.Or
Bachelor's degree and 4 years of relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree with 1+ years of post-doctoral training or a master’s degree with 5+ years postgraduate experience in cell and/or molecular biology.Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a biopharmaceutical setting.Strong scientific foundation in a wide range of cell-based assays with experience in lab automation.Track record of developing and performing novel cell-based screening assays.Ability to design and implement gene editing workflows for disease-relevant assays.Capacity to identify, evaluate, and become proficient in novel laboratory techniques.Ability to manage work plans and meet timelines.A flexible approach with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated initiative, teamwork, collaboration, and passion for developing technical expertise.Familiarity with software for the analysis of large data sets.What you can expect of us
