DaysJOB SUMMARY:The Clinical Director for the Masters in Cardiac Perfusion Program will be responsible for the overall development, implementation, and assessment of the clinical rotations for the Perfusion Program students. Along with the Program Director and Medical Director, the Clinical Director will have oversight of the student performance on rotation. The Clinical Director will be responsible for recruiting perfusionists as preceptors, establishing learning objectives and competencies, training perfusionists to function as preceptors, and assessing student performance. They will assist and support the Program Director in curriculum development and delivery, student recruitment and retention, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. The Clinical Director will play a key role in the development of a new program, including helping with the creation of the curriculum and all required elements for submission for accreditation, advancing the program's mission to educate and train the next generation of cardiac perfusionists, preparing them for successful careers in clinical practice, research, and leadership within the healthcare community.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES / CRITICAL TASKS:Serve as needed in Clinical Leadership and Administration, in conjunction with the Program Director, Medical Director, and the Dean of the School of Medicine.Develop and implement strategic goals and objectives for the program.Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring efficient and effective program delivery.Coordinate with faculty and staff to maintain a supportive learning environment.Lead the development, review, and revision of the clinical curriculum to ensure it meets current industry standards and accreditation requirements.Teach courses within the program as needed.Integrate innovative teaching methods and technologies to enhance learning outcomes.Assist the Program Director to ensure the program meets all accreditation standards set by relevant accrediting bodies (e.g., Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs - CAAHEP).Recruit and mentor qualified preceptors to train students.Conduct performance evaluations for clinical preceptors.Advise and mentor students, providing guidance on academic and career matters.Coordinate clinical placements and internships for students.Promote and support faculty and student research activities.Foster relationships with clinical partners, healthcare organizations, and professional associations.Represent the program at professional conferences and meetings.Engage in community outreach activities to promote the program and profession.Involvement with the continued expansion and oversight of the ECMO program within the East Texas Health/UT Tyler.Work with ECMO director and team to establish protocols and guidelines.Expand the application of ECMO to various conditions and uses.Collaborate with the ECMO team and Clinical Staff in the management and transport of ECMO patients.Work as a clinical perfusionist as necessary to maintain credentialing and to act as preceptor for Perfusion Students. Estimate of 50% Clinical, 50% Education/Administration.Other duties as assigned.ACCOMPANYING KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES:Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.Demonstrated ability to develop and manage academic programs.Dedication to fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment.REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:Bachelors in Cardiac Perfusion, Cardiovascular Science, or a related field.Five (5) years of clinical experience in cardiac perfusion.Current certification as a Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP).May accept a combination of education and experience.PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:Masters or Doctorate in Cardiac Perfusion, Cardiovascular Science, or a related field (or ability to obtain an expedited Master’s in Perfusion).Prior teaching experience in a higher education setting preferred.Work Locations:
