Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Collects and reviews maintenance requisitions from all units and departments of the facility. Reviews information, establishes priorities, assigns staff or inspects, replaces, repairs or otherwise resolves problems.
Implements the approved preventative maintenance program throughout the physical plant and for all equipment per the schedule.
Maintains all essential equipment (e.g., boiler room equipment, nursing unit/medication room refrigerators, kitchen refrigerator/freezer, laundry equipment) in safe operating condition.
Inspects, tests and maintains the resident call system to ensure a functioning communication system from rooms, toilets, and bathing facilities.
Cooperates with other departments to identify and accommodate individual resident needs and preferences. Communicates directly with residents.
Completes required documentation and record keeping of maintenance activities.
Collaborates with consultants with timely responses to requests for information and suggestions to improve the quality of maintenance services.
Maintains adequate supplies and tools for efficient and effective functioning of the maintenance department and facility operations.
Coordinates facility fire and disaster drills. In the event of an emergency, carries out assigned duties to assure resident safety.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Advanced learning for this position is customarily acquired by a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction.
At least 2 years experience with maintenance for a skilled nursing facility.
Life safety knowledge.
