The

Acute Psychiatric Services

(APS)

department at Hennepin Healthcare is seeking a highly motivated individual for a

full-time

(1.0 FTE)

opportunity to

provide clinical care in APS as well as to serve as the service medical director . Our APS provides emergency services 24/7 to persons experiencing mental health crises. Our treatment team includes Psychiatrists, Advanced Practice Providers, Psychiatric Nurses, Mental Health Workers, and Psychiatric Social Workers.

The Medical Director provides medical leadership to a multidisciplinary group of clinical staff, in addition to providing direct patient care. This role serves as a liaison and clinical consultant to medical and nursing staff. The Medical Director collaborates with the administrative chair of psychiatry and service line director, managers, supervisors, clinical staff, and other medical directors on issues affecting clinical operations. In addition, the director partners with Hennepin Healthcare in strategic planning, growth, marketing, and research & development. We strive to provide an environment for continuous quality improvement, develop and maintain professional relationships within and external to the organization.

Responsibilities include:

Diagnosing and treating patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders

Determining the nature and extent of mental disorders, and formulating a treatment program utilizing a variety of psychotherapeutic methods and medications

Providing direct patient care to individuals with mental health as their primary diagnosis, as well as individuals suffering from a secondary mental health disturbance or illness

Collaborating with, educating, and instructing other providers on the physical health issues that might impact the mental health of their patients

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

MD or equivalent foreign degree

Completion of medical residency program in Psychiatry

Board certified / Board Eligible in Psychiatry

If Board Eligible, must be certified within 4 years of employment start date

Current license to practice medicine in the State of Minnesota (or eligibility)
