Are you a seasoned Visual/UI Designer, passionate about new technologies, driving change through data, and using customer obsessed design processes to create products and services.
We're on a journey to build something new! The vehicle sales team is looking for a thoughtful and passionate Visual/UI Designer who sees technology as a way to re-imagine the car buying process. We are building new research, discovery, and shopping products that can connect customers to their car of choice. Our goal is to simplify the car buying process and our group functions as a start-up within Amazon. We offer a creative, fast paced, entrepreneurial work environment where you’ll be at the center of Amazon innovation.
Key job responsibilities
As a tastemaker you have a strong sensibility of grid, type, iconography, and color theory
Design at appropriate levels of fidelity from wireframes, visual mockups, and prototypes
Create themes that set vision and can be applied to existing layouts
Construct UI components for use by designers and developers
Create and maintain component libraries
Write effectively to communicate design patterns for designers and developers
Effectively communicate design rationales and how they are expressed for specific business and customer needs
Guide the broader team on how to leverage the design system
Collaborate with other design teams to set and apply high level expression and branding that span across a range of devices and experiences
Understand current design systems and work with partners to set deployment strategy
Be a passionate and effective advocate for design with non-design audiences
Plan projects for effective delivery while maintaining high standards for design
About the team
This role is with a new line of business with a vision to create innovative automotive discovery and shopping experiences on Amazon, providing customers better convenience and more selection. We’re collaborating with other experienced teams at Amazon to define the future of how customers research and shop for cars online.
Basic Qualifications
8+ years of design experience
Have an available online portfolio
Experience partnering with technical partners for design implementation
Knowledge of typographic and brand design principles
Proven history of design and development of a product design system and an emphasis on conceptual, visual, interaction design and strategic thinking.
Expert skill level with standard design tools.
A minimum of a BA/BS degree in a Design preferably in graphic design or visual communication design.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in end-to-end concept to shipping several full product development cycles; successful experience as an Art Director or equivalent role.
Experience creatively solving hard problems across complex products with simple yet transformational results.
Ability to juggle multiple priorities and effectively deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Expertise in typographic principles, motion design, and illustration.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $127,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
