The Associate General Counsel at JM&A Group is primarily responsible for providing strategic advice to ensure new and existing F&I products, reinsurance structures and dealer participation structures are compliant with applicable federal and state law. They also implement policies and procedures for compliance with federal and state consumer privacy laws and navigate the legal landscape of artificial intelligence regulations.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic advice to ensure new and existing F&I products are compliant with applicable federal and state law.Provide strategic advice on dealer participation programs including Foreign Domicile Corporations taxed as U.S. entities (CFCs), Non-Controlled Foreign Corporations (NCFCs), Dealer Owned Warranty Companies (DOWCs), reinsurance, and retro structures.Implement and oversee policies and procedures that ensure the company’s compliance with federal and state consumer privacy laws and regulations governing development and use of artificial intelligence.Monitor proposed and existing legislation that may impact the company, providing legal guidance and compliance strategies.Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on pending legal issues and draft necessary documents to protect company interests.Anticipate and mitigate legal risks that could affect the organization.Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts, licenses, and other legal documents.Manage outside counsel handling litigation.Evaluate and recommend legal policies to General Counsel.Review and approve license applications and other legal filings.Supervise attorneys, paralegals, and support staff as necessary.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law.Strong experience in compliance oversight related to F&I products, reinsurance, and dealer participation structures.In-depth knowledge of federal and state consumer privacy laws, as well as regulations pertaining to artificial intelligence.Experience in corporate law, with a focus on contracts, litigation, and regulatory compliance.Proven ability to provide sound legal advice and strategic guidance to senior management.Well-developed negotiation skills and proficiency in drafting legal documents.Knowledge of advertising regulations and corporate governance.Ability to evaluate complex legal issues and provide practical solutions.Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.Experience supervising junior attorneys and legal support staff is preferred
