Our client is a Venture Capital firm seeking a Director of Finance.
POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to and working closely with the CFO, the Director of Finance will manage critical areas of the company’s finance and accounting processes, including within the areas of the Funds, Management Company and General Partner entities. The role will be exposed to all aspects of the firm, including direct interaction with the investment team. The Director of Finance will play a critical role in the following: Finance
Management of the Funds’ quarterly and annual year-end audited financial statements, including the quarterly ASC 820 valuation process. This includes managing the third-party Fund Administrator (“Fund Admin”). Manage, review and ensure timely filing of all tax returns, in coordination with our third-party tax provider and Fund Admin. Review and oversight of capital calls and distributions to LPs and GPs, as prepared by Fund Admin. Managing shadow trackers to ensure all waterfall and return calculations are in accordance with the Funds’ LPAs Management of the treasury process, including oversight, coordination, and reconciliation in conjunction with appropriate partners; all transfer activity in and out of the Firm and Fund accounts; management of the Funds’ subscription line of credit facilities. Oversee General Partner books and records, including carry management and analysis Provide support for management company activities, including budgeting, payables, fund and portfolio company billing, expense reports, expense categorizations, distributions and managing the overall Fund Admin relationship. Portfolio Management Oversight of the internal database of critical information including portfolio company KPI’s, financials, internal notes and valuations. Reviewer of funding documents (i.e., stock purchase agreements, convertible notes, etc.) Fund budget management, including pacing projections and investment construct analysis Supporting investment team portfolio review, including preparation of investment insights Investor Relations & CFO Support Prepare and maintain financial data for fundraising purposes, annual limited partner meeting presentations, and limited partner requests Provide support on regulatory and compliance matters Driving value-add support to the portfolio (i.e., leveraging our network to drive value for our portfolio companies via operational support) Special projects, including reports and analysis on Fund and Firm related topics Experience
6+ years of combined accounting and relevant experience, including 3+ years of working in a venture capital/private equity firm High proficiency in creating and manipulating financial models CPA or CFA designation strongly preferred Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
