Lead Engineer

The Role

As a Director of Software Engineering in Asset Management Equity Technology, you will be hands on with supporting the Portfolio Management product area in the development of new tools and features for our portfolio managers. You are deeply committed to improving the value delivered to our customers by collaborating with other leaders to establish and progress standards, influencing strategic decisions and building high quality software solutions. You will lead in development, research, and recommendation of appropriate methods, tools, and technologies to achieve domain-wide solutions. You are intellectually curious and are committed to developing your own expertise and empowering others by bringing the latest thinking to your role.

Designing and architecting withing sophisticated distributed systems, micro services and event-based architectures.Actively collaborating across squads for deliverables and driving engineering excellence, including framework advancement, standards formulation, and performance optimization.Collaborating with stakeholders, Chapter Leads, Architecture and Product Owners, Technical Leads to analyze and define technical requirements.Influencing innovative technology solutions to resolve complex business problems.Continuously researching new and emerging technologies including prototypes to determine capabilities and feasibility.Working in a fast-paced Agile software development environment with continuous integration and continuous delivery tools and understanding how to deliver using an Acceptance Test-Driven development (ATDD) approach.Curiosity about writing clean, testable, readable, and easily maintainable code.Providing technical assistance for multiple squads across the Chapter by mentoring and coaching junior developers.Providing technical and organizational leadership and are quick to establish and use relationships to deliver excellent results.Collaborating with Architecture, Chapter Leads, and Squads to identify, maintain and prioritize technical tasks including Technology Lifecycle Management and Continuous Improvement items.

The Expertise And Skills You Bring

10+ years of hands-on software development experience in application development frameworks and demonstrate proficiency, quality, and passion in your coding ability.You have expert knowledge of fundamental design principles for building a scalable application.Experience developing Spring RESTful web services application using Open Source Frameworks - Spring Boot, Spring Core, IOC, other core components like oauth2 and security.Experience in full stack engineering and have deep knowledge of middleware Java stack, messaging technologies, containerization, web containers and test automation including Spring RESTful web services application using Open Source Frameworks - Spring Boot, Spring Core, IOC, other core components like oauth2 and security.Experience developing full stack applications using AWS cloud-platforms with services like EC2, Lambda, CloudFormation, S3, IAM Roles, EKS, CloudWatch and Elastic Search and AWS messaging capabilities like SQS and SNS and AWS NoSql database like DynamoDB.Experience with Front-end web development using responsive frameworks like Angular or ReactExperience with test automation at different levels of testing (unit, component, integration, and functional tests) using Junit, Mockito and Cucumber for Integration testing. Client-side testing using Jasmine framework, test runners like Karma and tools (e.g. Cucumber, FitNesse, Gerkin).Working experience with technologies such as Jenkins, Maven, and GIT.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Technology leadership, critical thinking, and influencing skills.

Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs. Currently, most hybrid roles require associates to work onsite all business days of one assigned week per four-week period (beginning in September 2024, the requirement will be two full assigned weeks).
