The University of California, San Diego, Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, Burns and Acute Care Surgery ( Department Website ) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and seeks to recruit a surgeon with a focus on clinical care and research in the areas of burn and trauma care.The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high quality training and teaching to medical students, residents, and fellows, the clinical care of patients, and research.The selected candidate may have an opportunity to be appointed as Burn Center Associate Director at the discretion of the Division Chief and Burn Director.The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.As a member of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, the appointee should be aware that there are limitations on outside professional activities, and clinical moonlighting is expressly prohibited. Basic qualifications

(required at time of application)Candidates must have an MD or equivalent. Candidates must be Board certified in General Surgery and must have a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care.Candidates must also have completed an ABA compliant Burn Fellowship of at least 6 months duration or have 3 years of burn practice if not Burn fellowship trained.Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.Candidates must have at least 1 extramural grant as PI, Co-PI or Investigator and/or at least 3 PubMed identifier (PMID) indexed articles per year of practice in an area relevant to Burn Surgery, Trauma and/or Surgical Critical Care.Candidates must have at least 3 years of teaching experience.Application Requirements
