Purpose of this RoleOversees all aspects of UWCW’s fundraising, resource and business development strategies and initiatives, including maintaining and enhancing current efforts and creating new revenue streams through the annual workplace campaign, individual and major donor programs, planned-giving, endowment, in-kind gifts, and targeted impact campaigns. The Sr. Director of Resource Development directs the marketing team to inform the planning and execution of effective marketing and communications, elevating the United Way brand and strengthening relationships with key constituencies. The Sr. Director of Resource Development is responsible for leveraging data analytics to manage accountability to revenue goals and to optimize operational efficiency. Further the Sr. Director of Resource Development leads and inspires everyone in the organization to support and maintain superior donor relationships.

Key AccountabilitiesFundraising

Lead and inspire UWCW team members to establish and achieve their fundraising goals.Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors and stakeholders, managing a portfolio of ~40-50.Work in partnership with the President/CEO to ensure principal donors are cultivated and stewarded properly.Lead and support the Director of Corporate Development to leverage relationships and grow corporate and foundation gifts.Grow individual giving in partnership with the Development & Stewardship Manager.Ensure the necessary systems, structures, and processes are in place to support the fundraising life cycle and guarantee a positive donor experience.Lead and manage new fundraising campaigns and special projects/events that prove most effective for fundraising.Collaborate with the Sr. Manager of Marketing and Communications, to ensure messaging engages donors and new audiences.Establish a culture of philanthropy across UWCW.Update skills regularly to enhance knowledge of fundraising and resource development.Staff Leadership and CoachingProvide support, mentorship, and motivation to the Resource Development and Marketing team, ensuring they have clarity around roles and responsibilities, consistent feedback, and regular evaluations.Select, guide, motivate and participate in the training, professional development, and evaluation of direct reports and contractors.Support a culture of collaboration and trust within the development team and among departments.Ensure that all organization ambassadors, including but not limited to the President/CEO and Board of Directors, have what is needed to be successful in their fundraising efforts.Attend board meetings and committee meetings as the senior development staff member.Strategic PlanningProvide comprehensive fundraising vision and leadership.Develop a robust fundraising strategy and plan aligned with the organization's goals and mission.With input from direct reports, develop goals and objectives for specific initiatives and develop and direct the implementation of long- and short-range plans to meet those goals and objectives.Provide strategic leadership to the marketing team to inform the annual marketing and communications plan to align with the fundraising plan and revenue goal attainment.Proactively develop and implement strategies to ensure that fundraising targets are realistically set and met.Forecast, analyze, and execute based on the progress of annual operating plan goals and metrics and implement strategies to improve performance and ensure UWCW is meeting annual fundraising goals.Volunteer LeadershipAssumes primary staff responsibility for the Development Committee meetings, overseeing the activities of the committee and providing expertise to volunteers in organizing and developing successful fundraising strategies.Works directly with and supports the Development Committee chair in the execution of the chair responsibilities and outlined in the Chair job description, including the identification and recruitment of Development Committee volunteers.Perform other duties as assigned.This job description describes the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position. Education, Skills, Experience, and Training Required for this Position10+ years related work experience in resource development in the non-profit field with direct fundraising experience and fiscal oversight; BA degree in Business Administration or related field; or a comparable combination of experience and education.3+ years of supervisory skills and experience.Effective oral and written communications skills with an ability to relate with a diverse group of individuals or organizations in an effective manner.Ability to think strategically with proven, strong ability to execute on plan.Ability to take initiative and be creative in thinking and solutions.Experience leading a collaborative effort involving a variety of diverse stakeholders.Commitment to excellence and to the mission of United Way.Please include a cover letter on the application and salary requirements.
