BETA’s has an immediate opening for a Transportation Planner to join our rapidly growing team with a variety of exciting projects in progress. Don’t miss this opportunity to work with and learn from industry-leading engineers and planners while contributing to the success and growth of an expanding office.Day-to-day activities will vary. You may be conducting field investigations one day and developing pedestrian and bicycle concepts in the office the next. Our transportation planners are often involved in urban planning, resiliency and sustainability, and streetscape projects.We work for municipalities, as well as with regional planning and state agencies. At BETA, the wide range of services that we provide to our clients results in considerable interaction and teamwork within the company. Our planners regularly work with transportation engineers, landscape architects, structural engineers, and GIS/asset management specialists on a variety of projects.Responsibilities:Identify and develop mobility and safety projects for people of all ages/abilities and all transportation modesCollect transportation data and perform site visits; analyze and summarize data for reportingConduct complete streets, traffic calming, and shared streets evaluations and prepare reportsIdentify improvement measures and develop concept plansSummarize existing and future conditions for municipal master plans, traffic, pedestrian, bicycle and transit data and develop future projectionsPerform best practices research for innovative transportation techniquesSummarize socio- economic and environmental justice dataConduct public engagement and outreach eventsPrepare for and attend internal/external meetingsWork directly with our project managers/clients on complex planning and design projectsUtilize tools and software to develop tables, graphics, and reportsPreferred location is BETA’s Norwood and Boston offices. Candidates should have flexibility to work from our other office locations. BETA also offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing employees to request working remotely up to 2 days per week.RequirementsSkills Required:Bachelor’s degree in planning or related field required; Master's degree preferred3-5+ years of experience requiredProficient in ArcGIS, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, SketchUpProficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant softwareDesire to learnExcellent written and oral communication skillsStrong time management skills and ability to handle multiple concurrent assignmentsMust be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspectionsMust be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 poundsMust be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of timeMust have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
