Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a
Systems Engineer/ Principal System Engineer
located in Redondo Beach, CA.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Roles and responsibilities you may be tasked to support:
•
Ability to capture core concepts and instructional needs from a large amount of technical data (ground and space hardware) and communicate technical concepts to peers
•
Be self-directed and take initiative to drive product development to closure
•
Understand space satellite mission planning, demonstration and delivery of mission effects during operations, and provides mission augmentation support over the life of the mission.
•
Performs system-of-system trades, modeling, simulation and analysis to assess space mission architecture alternatives for delivering a Customer mission effect, data or capability as it fits within a broader campaign
•
Performs analysis-of-alternatives and synthesizes mission elements to lead to a cohesive space mission solution. Space mission development may include orbits, launch vehicles, space vehicles, payloads, ground segment, Design Reference Missions (DRM), and external interfaces
•
Development of requirement traceability and verification plans
•
Drive statement of work requirements to closure
•
Support execution activities including configuration control board and other customer meetings
•
Prepare review/briefing material for working group meetings, reviews and program status
•
Expected travel is approximately 10%
Basic Qualifications:
System Engineer Level (T2)
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Engineering or related STEM field with 2 years of experience in a related engineering field such as mechanical, electrical, aerospace and/or operations
Principal System Engineer Level (T3)
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics or Engineering or related STEM field with 5 years of experience in a related engineering field such as mechanical, electrical, aerospace and/or operations
This position can be filled as a T2 or a T3 based on the qualifications below:
Must have U.S. Citizenship with active or current TS/SCI Clearance at the time of application
Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and practices
Experience in one or more of the following system engineering knowledge areas: technical planning, requirements derivation, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, cost and risk analysis, interface definition, system design, system integration, verification and validation, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total system
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work within diverse teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in mission design, satellite ground software, distributed modeling & simulation
Understanding of system of system architecture designs the interplay between various national security customers and products
Be able to make decisions under high pressure environments and maintain composure in stressful situations
Previous experience with troubleshooting, anomaly resolution and performing analysis on operational systems
Previous experience with flight hardware on operational systems
Previous experience with Class C / demonstration programs
Prior aerospace-related work experience for a U.S Government Agency or Contractor
Salary Range:
$87,200 - $130,800
Salary Range 2:
$107,300 - $160,900
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
