Head Start - Operations Specialist

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, the Operations Specialist compiles and maintains records concerned with ordering and storing. The Operations Specialist issues and receives shipping materials, supplies and equipment to maintain inventory for all Crystal Stairs Head Start/Early Head Start CCP sites. Responsible for assisting in a variety of warehouse duties, including, unloading and loading trucks, fulfilling purchase orders, and keeping warehouse stocked with essential equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Receives, stores, and distributes equipment, material, supplies, merchandise, perishables, or tools, and compiles stock records in warehouse
Counts, sorts, or weighs incoming articles to verify receipt of items on requisition or invoices.
Stores articles in bins, on floor, or on shelves, according to identifying information, such as style, size, or type of material
Fills orders or distributes supplies from stock
Prepares periodic, special, or perpetual inventory of stock
Requisitions articles to fill incoming orders or inventory
Examines stock to verify conformance to specifications
Works with various vendors to ensure that site needs are addressed in a timely manner.
Compiles reports on use of stock handling equipment, adjustments of inventory counts and stock records, spoilage of or damage to stock, location changes, and refusal of shipments.
KNOWLEDGE
Must have knowledge of purchasing and inventory control processes.
Basic computer skills with proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
COMPETENCIES
Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Must have strong attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
Requires excellent customer relations, excellent phone etiquette skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups.
Ability to use a forklift to move/store inventory.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable assistance.
EDUCATION
High School graduate or equivalent G.E.D. is required; some college preferred.
EXPERIENCE
1 year of direct experience in purchasing or inventory control required, with experience working in a warehouse or an inventory control setting.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid California Driver's License, reliable vehicle, automobile insurance and a clean driving record required. Forklift certification is a plus.
