CONTINGENT ON CONTRACT AWARD.
The
Opto-Mechanical Engineer
will support the satellite project in the development, integration, and test of opto-mechanical communication subsystems for satellite flight systems, based in Northridge, California.
The Opto-Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for having a proficient knowledge of the manufacture, stability, packaging, and integration of optical subsystems related to spaceflight communications systems. Expertise is required related to space instrumentation, satellite development, and defense and security.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop/review requirements verification approaches and closure statements.
Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work.
Provide Opto-Mechanical Engineering subject matter expertise, perform finite element model (FEM) analysis, utilize modeling and analysis tool development and results, and prepare analysis report deliverables.
Specific expertise in development and fabrication of optical communication subsystem finite element model(s) and analyses.
Specific expertise in development and fabrication of space vehicle finite element model(s) and analyses.
Perform stress analysis for assessment of dynamics trades.
Develop model organization approaches and implementation.
Other duties as assigned.

This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
This position requires a
bachelor's degree
in systems engineering or a related field from an accredited university or college with
at least 10 years of relevant technical experience.
Possess an understanding of Opto-Mechanical Engineering principles, methods, and requirements management.
Knowledge of requirements life cycle, including verification planning and requirement verification.
Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computers used within the Opto-Mechanical Engineering discipline.
Knowledge of project controls within Opto-Mechanical Engineering.
Knowledge of government / industry /regulatory codes and standards, and design criteria pertinent to the Opto-Mechanical Engineering discipline.
Proficient in the following engineering applications:
Structural(stress) and Dynamics FEM Tools
Solver: Siemens SimCenter Nastran 2022.1 v2019.0030
Pre/Post Processor: Siemens FEMAP 2022.1
Design & Geometry Prep:
Native 3D CAD: Siemens NX 2212
Open Format 3d CAD: ParaSOlid, IGES, Step
DESIRED:
Familiarity with implementation of opto-mechanical requirements in design.
Experience in performing design and/or requirements change impact analysis.
WORK LOCATION:
This position offers a hybrid or a remote option.
This position offers potential 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
This position may require some travel.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

SALARY RANGE:
$100,000 - $160,000 annually
