The person in this position is responsible for building and maintaining strategic relationships with brokers and existing client partners for small business. This individual is responsible for the development and execution of long-term account strategy, achieving positive financial outcomes for his/her book of business, including renewal strategy and negotiation, consulting with brokers and existing client partners to maximize their plan performance, and providing strategic support in the sale process for new clients. The Account Manager is responsible for achieving outstanding client partner loyalty and satisfaction, as well as maintaining Delta Dental's reputation as the premier dental benefits company in the industry.

Responsibilities

• Strategically build and manage an assigned book of existing small business client partners (mainly through broker or consultant or direct) to ensure client satisfaction and retention.

• Establish, expand, and enhance relationships with existing broker and client partners by presenting benefit options which maximize client dental plans and support their goals, while serving as a consultant and trusted business advisor to these broker and client partners.

• Manage the new group implementation process ensuring both smooth implementation and client satisfaction.

• Manage entire renewal cycle for assigned book of business, which includes interfacing with brokers and client partners.

• Consult on pertinent industry trends and key metrics for existing client partners to maximize their dental plans and financial outcomes.

• Professionally represent Delta Dental at client partner enrollment meetings and benefit fairs.

• Present and explain group dental benefits to diverse employee populations and respond to general and specific questions regarding benefits, limitations and exclusions, claim payments and participating dentist arrangements for all products offered by Delta Dental of Missouri.

• Coordinate with other departments as needed to guarantee client satisfaction with all services provided by Delta Dental.

• Effectively respond to verbal or written client inquiries on items such as rates, benefit plan design, general information, as well as provide strategic recommendations.

• Provide strategic support to Sales Executives in responding to group RFPs.

• Explore opportunities with existing client partners to leverage the DeltaVision product offering where appropriate.

• Perform other work related duties as assigned.

Education, Skills, Personal Attributes, and Experience Required

• Minimum of seven years' experience in health benefits arena, preferably in account management

• College degree and/or equivalent relevant business experience

• Current Missouri health insurance license

• Attention to detail and deadlines, good organizational skills and high level of initiative

• Strong oral, written, analytical and interpersonal skills

• Ability to remain poised and composed, yet firm, when dealing with dissatisfied benefit managers, subscribers, brokers and consultants

• Strong understanding of finance, underwriting and rating of group insurance products

• Working knowledge of all departments within Delta Dental

• Understanding of dental terminology and procedures

• Ability to prioritize projects and work with a variety of Marketing team members to achieve department and corporate goals

• Proficient in use of office equipment such as personal computer, copier and fax machine

• Proficient in use of Microsoft office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Work Conditions

• General office working conditions which may require sitting for extended periods of time

• Infrequent overnight travel may be required
